The OnePlus 15 was the company’s final US flagship. | Photo: Allison Johnson / The Verge OnePlus has confirmed what industry observers have long expected: it's quitting the US and European markets, and will no longer launch new products in either region. Parent company Oppo promises that it will honor existing support and warranty agreements, with devices transitioning to its ColorOS for future updates."Software updates and after-sale support will be guaranteed" in both the US and Europe, Oppo's senior PR manager in Europe, James Paterson, told The Verge in a call. You can now build AI agents that order DoorDash directly from the command line

While AI agents are always getting more powerful, I don't think anyone would have expected DoorDash to get on board officially. If you've ever wished that you could send Claude Fable 5 grocery shopping, DoorDash has revealed its own CLI beta, and you can sign up for the waitlist now...

I used an old graphics card to add AI features to my Immich server, and it’s now smarter than Google Photos

I’ve been using Immich to organize my photos for a while, and thanks to its built-in 3-2-1 backup provisions, neat UI, and memories facility, I managed to get my family to switch over to this FOSS application. But after sifting through Immich’s documentation to configure email notifications for the other...

But after sifting through Immich’s documentation to configure email notifications for the other denizens of my household, I came across a page on its machine-learning algorithms.

Google must give rival AI assistants and search engines greater access to key parts of Android and Google Search after the European Union ordered the company to comply with the bloc's digital antitrust rules. The two decisions, handed down Thursday, could weaken Google's control over two of the tech industry's most important platforms and have far-reaching consequences for the company, shape the future of its AI tool Gemini, and open up new opportunities for rivals to gain ground. The rulings stem from technical regulatory proceedings under the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA), which requires dominant platforms - designated "gatekeepers" - …Read the full story at The Verge.

Someone converted their Steam library into SSD “cartridges”, and you slot them in like a Game Boy

After Sony stated that it will halt PlayStation disc production in 2028, the discourse around owning physical copies of video games has once again bubbled to the surface. However, one person has gone one step further and turned their Steam library into individual SSD "cartridges" for each game. And yes,...

I changed one simple Google Maps setting and instantly started getting faster routes

Though I've been a Waze user for years, I've expanded my navigation app horizons to include Apple Maps (it's so much better than it was at launch) and, more recently, Google Maps.

Skullcandy announced a new version of its Crusher wireless headphones today featuring a few of Bose's audio technologies including its QuietControl ANC and head-tracking spatial audio. The Crusher headphone line differentiates itself from the competition through the use of both full-range and dedicated bass drivers in each ear cup to boost deeper frequencies. COMPUTER COPS: Inside the big business of selling AI to the police

I stood before a hulking glass and brick structure in the heart of Fort Worth, Texas. Thousands gathered inside to see what had been billed as "the future of policing in the digital age." As press, I was prohibited from entering, but from a number of nearby locations, I met with attendees who told me what was being sold within. And I learned that AI is threatening to seize the very heart of policing in America. The promise of AI at this year's International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Technology Conference focused on automating routine parts of the job, which also happen to be critical steps in the legal process. It's a similar …Read the full story at The Verge.

Your next motherboard doesn’t need to be flagship — here’s how I learned that the hard way

I'm not going to act like I'm great at choosing PC parts that offer incredible value because I've upgraded from an RTX 3090 to a 4090, replaced a 240Hz monitor with a 360Hz OLED, and even ditched my 5800X3D for a 9800X3D earlier this year, even though I wasn't really...

Still, every single one of these upgrades gave me something tangible in return. The CPU and GPU upgrades improved frame rates, and the faster monitor let me make better use of those extra frames.

Immutable Linux distros are not the only way to build a system you can’t break

Immutable Linux distros absolutely deserve all of the attention they get. It's a read-only base, atomic updates that either fully apply or not at all, and the applications are sealed off from the system, adding up to a OS that's difficult to actually break. If your goal as a new Linux user is to never have to think about it, then it's an easy recommendation, but immutability isn't what makes Linux rock-solid. On the question of stability and recovery, a normal non-immutable distro can easily meet those requirements.

For a long time, I only opened Claude Code when I thought I had a coding problem. I’d ask it to write a script, explain something unfamiliar, or help me untangle a project that had already gone sideways. It was useful, but I kept treating Claude’s ability to inspect an entire directory as a side feature rather than my favorite use. Once I started pointing it at messy project folders, scattered notes, old drafts, and files with names that stopped being helpful months ago, it became far more useful in my actual day-to-day work.
