OpenAI is standing firm on its decision to fire three safety researchers after an investigation found they committed "a significant breach of trust."In a post on X on Friday, the company said Jasmine Wang, Tomek Korbak and Mikita Balesni were dismissed for violating "clear policies on handling sensitive information." AMD squeezed a lightweight FSR 4 model onto handhelds, but older devices might miss out
Back when AMD brought FSR 4 to GPUs (including retroactively adding it to older models), AMD said it was a little skeptical about squeezing the same tech onto handhelds. It never explicitly stated it would never bring FSR 4 to devices such as handhelds, but it never outright confirmed that...

It never explicitly stated it would never bring FSR 4 to devices such as handhelds, but it never outright confirmed that it would, either.

I drove 10,000 miles with Google Maps, and found 6 hidden features actually worth using

SATA SSDs are still the smartest second drive you can buy, and I can’t justify spending more on NVMe
Talking about a SATA SSD in 2026 is anathema to many PC users. It's akin to recommending a console to a PC building enthusiast. I fully expect people to bring up the outdated performance and needless cables of SATA SSDs when I still recommend it as a secondary drive. NVMe...
Talking about a SATA SSD in 2026 is anathema to many PC users. It's akin to recommending a console to a PC building enthusiast. I fully expect people to bring up the outdated performance and needless cables of SATA SSDs when I still recommend it as a secondary drive. NVMe SSDs are faster, sleeker, and more convenient, and I would always use them for the primary drive, but SATA SSDs aren't outdated by any means.

Flathub just reversed its AI-generated content ban, but developers still need to say they used it
Back in May of this year, we reported that Flathub banned AI-generated submissions because people were being a little rude about it. Now, as more and more Linux distros have declared acceptance of LLM-created code (as long as it's of high quality, of course), it seems that Flathub has had...
Back in May of this year, we reported that Flathub banned AI-generated submissions because people were being a little rude about it. Now, as more and more Linux distros have declared acceptance of LLM-created code (as long as it's of high quality, of course), it seems that Flathub has had a change of heart. Fortunately, while the new rules do allow AI content if it's properly disclosed, it doesn't open the door for people to flood the repository with poorly-made apps.

I use these 5 open-source tools to improve my development workflow on Windows

Windows has been my main development environment for years, and I’ve learned that productivity often comes down to the small things. A few extra clicks here, a repetitive task there, or a tool that makes me work harder than necessary can quickly add up. I started looking beyond the usual software recommendations and tried some open-source projects instead. What surprised me was how many fit naturally into how I already work. They didn't require me to completely change my setup or learn complicated workflows. Instead, they solved everyday annoyances and made my development environment feel more practical.

This single package manager replaced WinGet, Homebrew, and APT on all my computers
Most people tend to install apps on their computer using the obvious methods: you may find apps on an app store, or download an installation file directly in the browser. But if you read XDA, you probably already know about package managers and how much more convenient they can be.

I've used the Alienware AW3423DW OLED for the last four years, and though I bought it for gaming, I now mostly use it as a secondary monitor that gives me plenty of room to multitask. That 21:9 aspect ratio gives me extra width to keep multiple windows open side by side without making any of them feel too cramped. And since I'm usually juggling Discord, Chrome, and TradingView, even while gaming, Snap Layouts were a no-brainer for quickly organizing everything.

The most useful productivity tool I installed this year costs nothing and does one thing perfectly
I’ve installed plenty of productivity apps over the years, and most of them promise to help me work faster, stay organized, or save time. This year, though, the app that made the biggest difference was one I almost overlooked. It isn’t a task manager, note-taking app, or AI assistant. It’s...
I’ve installed plenty of productivity apps over the years, and most of them promise to help me work faster, stay organized, or save time. This year, though, the app that made the biggest difference was one I almost overlooked. It isn’t a task manager, note-taking app, or AI assistant. It’s a small Windows utility that sits quietly in the background and solves a problem I didn’t realize was slowing me down. After using it regularly, I started wondering how something this simple had become one of the most useful tools in my workflow.
