For my home network, I’ve always run two separate SSIDs. That felt like a responsible thing. Being aware of the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands helped with manual device a**ignment. I had my home network under control. At least, that’s what I thought. I didn’t realize I was letting my devices make bad decisions consistently, making it easy for them to do so. I’d tweaked nearly every setting on my router except the most basic one. Fixing it cost me nothing but flipping a switch.
