When it comes to reliability testing my internet connection, I’m guilty of following the same steps as pretty much everyone else. I ran speed tests. Head on over to Speedtest.net or maybe fast.com, check the download numbers, upload numbers, and the latency. Nothing much else to it. If the numbers look good, things should be alright. But sometimes even that doesn’t fix the inherent slowness of how devices on your network are interacting with the broader internet. And if you’re not clued into the nitty-gritty of networking and the internet, it’s safe to a**ume that you’ll start blaming everything from the Wi-Fi router to the device you are using. The thing is, speed tests aren’t the be-all and end-all of internet quality monitoring.
