Modern PC hardware failure rates aren’t increasing, the expectations are just higher
If you've built PCs long enough, you've definitely done something a bit "jank", or perhaps installed a component of dubious quality because of a tight budget. I know I certainly have, and in those scenarios, we're all aware of the risks involved in regard to hardware failure, but when you buy brand-new components, there's no reason to believe they should fail out of the box.
