My home network is incomplete without this simple $20 upgrade
I've never invested in home network upgrades that require a new router, PCIe NIC, or mesh system. My ISP's router isn't exactly the best, but it does an okay job of covering the entire apartment. The only thing I've added to my ISP-provided fiber setup is a cheap mini UPS for the router. Long power cuts are very rare in my area, but brief cuts lasting a few minutes still happen a handful of times every month. The fiber connection itself stays online, but the router needs power before the central backup power kicks in. This makes the $20 router UPS one of the best upgrades I've ever made to my home network.
