When Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang said that bringing back older GPUs was a “good idea” back at CES this year, it generated some buzz amongst the PC hardware community. Semiconductor manufacturing rarely goes backwards, let alone jumping back 2 generations, but the RTX 3060 has indeed reportedly reentered active production on Samsung’s 8nm fab, according to TechPowerUp. Despite being over 5 years old, the RTX 3060 is a lot more capable than you might think, and this attempt to resurrect it isn’t surprising if you currently have one in your system. While it does depend on which particular model Nvidia decides to bring back to market, it proves, if nothing else, that older GPUs are still relevant in 2026.
