Moments after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s all-hands comments to employees were widely leaked, a company executive warned in an internal memo that leakers will be fired.“We take leaks seriously and will take action,” Meta’s chief information security officer, Guy Rosen, said in an internal memo I’ve seen. “When information is stolen or leaked, there are repercussions beyond the immediate security impact. Our teams become demoralized and we all waste time that is better spent working on our products and toward our goals and mission.”Rosen goes on to say that Meta “will take appropriate action, including termination” if it identifies leakers and that “we recently terminated relationships with employees who leaked confidential company information inappropriately and exfiltrated sensitive documents.” During today’s all-hands meeting, Zuckerberg told employees he would no longer be as transparent due to leaks. “We try to be really open and then everything I say leaks,” he said. “It sucks.” In a separate post on Meta’s internal version of Facebook for employees, CTO Andrew Bosworth posted a link to my story about Zuckerberg’s all-hands meeting t …Read the full story at The Verge.

Meanwhile, YouTube is allowing Dr Disrespect to remonetize his account.Midnight Society, the game studio co-founded by Dr Disrespect (real name Herschel “Guy” Beahm) has shut down, killing the first-person shooter title it was developing. The studio made “significant” layoffs in September after terminating its relationship with the controversial streamer in June due to “inappropriate” messages he exchanged with a minor. YouTube, which also took action against Beahm in June by demonetizing his account, has now reinstated the streamer’s ability to make money on the platform. The decision was made after “careful review of the channel’s recent activity,” according to a statement YouTube provided to Kotaku. “If there are further violations, we’ll take appropriate action.”Midnight Society was co-founded in 2021 by Beahm, former Call of Duty creative strategist Robert Bowling, and former 343 Industries lead sandbox designer Quinn Delhoyo.“We are actively seeking other game studios that would be interested in offering employment opportunities to our talented team members,” Midnight Society said in its shutdown announcement on X. “We express our sincere gratitude to each and every one of our community members and deeply sorry we were unable to reach our ultimate goal.”pic.twitter.com/26DK9pWCaR— Midnight Society (@12am) January 30, 2025The “ultimate goal” mentioned in Midnight Society’s departing message was Deadrop — a free-to-play vertical extraction shooter that was initially funded by selling NFTs at the height of the blockchain gaming frenzy. Deadrop was expected to release in 2024, and was the only game being developed by Midnight Society.

There are plenty of amazing games out there that can run on a weak PC, and they're well worth your time. As such, here are a few games you can play on a potato that are both rated "overwhelmingly positive" on Steam and titles that I've played extensively enough to form a personal opinion about.

The fallout of Meta’s content moderation overhaul

Meta is making sweeping changes to its content moderation policies, including abandoning third-party fact-checks in favor of X’s crowd-sourced “Community Notes” approach and loosening restrictions on topics like immigration and gender identity. Meta is making sweeping changes to its content moderation policies, including abandoning third-party fact-checks in favor of X’s crowd-sourced “Community Notes” approach and loosening restrictions on topics like immigration and gender identity. Under the updated Hateful Conduct policy, for example, calling gay and trans people “mentally ill” is now allowed, while an explicit ban on referring to women as “household objects” has been removed.Policy chief Joel Kaplan says that in pursuit of “More Speech and Fewer Mistakes,” Meta will focus more on preventing overenforcement of its content policies and less on mediating potentially harmful — but technically legal — discussions on its platform. The company is also ending its diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s announcement appeals to many of the new administration’s talking points. Zuckerberg, who has visited Trump at Mar-a-Lago multiple times since the election and attended the inauguration, has promised to move US content review from California to Texas, where he says there’s “less concern about the bias of our teams.” He also says Meta will work with Trump to “push back on governments around the world that are going after American companies and pushing to censor more.” Meta warns that it will fire leakers in leaked memo Mark Zuckerberg to employees in leaked all-hands meeting: ‘buckle up’ The vibes are off. Another look at Threads’ Community Notes. Meta’s censoring of abortion information is nothing new How Meta’s MAGA heel turn is a play for global power Here’s how you might write Community Notes on Instagram. Meta’s third-party fact checking contracts will reportedly end in March. Here are some of the horrible things that you can now say on Instagram and Facebook Meta is leaving its users to wade through hate and disinformation “Mark, Meta — welcome to the party.” Trump says his threats “probably” made Meta change its policies. Zuckerberg says he’s moving Meta moderators to Texas because California seems too ‘biased’ Oversight Board to Meta: hey, remember us? Well, it's been one turbulent week in tech, hasn't it? In case you haven't heard of DeepSeek, it's an LLM from China that has been around for a little while, but hit the public eye last Sunday. What followed was a whirlwind of activity: shareholders panicking and removing $1 trillion in stocks from the US AI and power market (about $600 billion of which was Nvidia stock), then DeepSeek was accused of training off ChatGPT's data, and then Microsoft added it as a supported model. All in a week! Incredible.

In fact, by the time you've set your eyes on these words, they've already flown off of the shelves. Turns out, despite being sold at eye-watering prices, people couldn't resist snapping up a card or two, including some nefarious scalpers who are taking advantage of the rush.

Nvidia announced the Blackwell-powered RTX 50 series of graphics cards at CES 2025. This new generation of GPUs brings numerous benefits, including the latest iteration of DLSS (with multi-frame generation), improved CUDA and Tensor cores, more advanced memory, and beefier RT cores. Nvidia introduced Blackwell as an architecture for generational AI and the company's entire CES presentation was about AI. You'd be forgiven for believing Nvidia was an AI-only company if you're new to the GPU space. The RTX 5080 is a mid-range GPU, sitting below the flagship (and incredibly expensive) RTX 5090. But how does it compare to the outgoing RTX 4080?
