AT&T will cut its autopay and paperless billing discounts in half starting April 24th. In a statement to The Verge, AT&T spokesperson Kyle Loomis confirmed reports that customers enrolled in the program will get $5 off their monthly bill instead of $10 when paying with a debit card.AT&T is also doing away with the existing $5 discount for paperless and autopay customers with a linked credit card. The discount will now only apply to customers who have an AT&T Plus Card from Citi. AT&T will continue to offer a $10 discount to customers who use their bank accounts for autopay.Loomis said AT&T is making the change to “align with others in the industry.” It doesn’t exactly come as a surprise, as T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T have all already lowered autopay discounts for customers paying their bills with a credit card, while Verizon halved discounts for more people last year.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is the highly anticipated successor to the Nintendo Switch. Many have been wondering what functionality the next console will have and, more importantly, what games they will be able to play on it. There is no denying that Nintendo has had many popular titles over the years, and some of those have been ported over to Nintendo Switch Online or NSO. Despite adding games from the original NES and Super NES, Nintendo has yet to add any games to NSO that were on its arguably most popular console, the GameCube. It features an auto-adjusting front light, robust IPX8 waterproofing, and faster page-turning performance than prior models. You’ll also get up to two months of battery life and wireless charging, not to mention a healthy 32GB of storage and zero ads. It’s the e-reader to get if you want a color screen and want to stick with Amazon.In fact, it’s the only one.

Game Informer is back, and so is its entire staff. On Tuesday, editor-in-chief Matt Miller announced that Gunzilla Games has acquired the rights to the gaming magazine, helping to bring the site and its archives back online.GameStop, which previously owned Game Informer, shut down the beloved magazine last August and laid off its entire staff after a more than 30-year run. The team teased a comeback last week, and has already published a series of new reviews for titles released during the magazine’s hiatus, along with a belated list of the best games of 2024.Its new owners, Gunzilla Games, is a game developer based in Europe that’s currently working on a battle royale title called Off the Grid. Miller says the magazine will continue operating as an independent editorial outlet under a new entity called Game Informer, Inc. “Our intent is to continue to focus on highlighting the coolest games, celebrating the history and legacy of the gaming industry, and shining a spotlight on the creators and players who are charting its future,” Miller says.In addition to bringing back its website, Game Informer plans to resurrect its print magazine, too, with “new membership and subscription benefits.” Though Game Informer currently isn’t offering a subscription just yet, you can sign up for an account on its website to receive updates, as well as gain access to the magazine’s archive. Game Informer will continue updating its site with news, reviews, previews, features, event coverage, and more starting today.

Windows can be frustrating, and it's only natural to want an alternative, especially one that isn't tied to Microsoft. That's where ReactOS, an open-source version of Windows that closely resembles the functionality of classic Windows, comes in. After more than three years without a significant update, ReactOS is finally back, with its latest release, ReactOS 0.4.15, now available for download.

Waymo announced that Washington, DC will be its next robotaxi city. The company aims to launch its Waymo One ridehailing service in the nation’s capitol in 2026 — though it acknowledged that it will first need to change the city law prohibiting fully autonomous vehicles without safety drivers. Currently, companies that want to test autonomous vehicles in DC are required to have a human driver behind the steering wheel in case something goes wrong. Tech advocates have been pressing the city council to loosen the restrictions to allow fully autonomous vehicles on public roads. A spokesperson for the DC transportation department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.The Alphabet-owned company’s manually driven vehicles have been spotted around DC since last year. A Waymo product manager told a local news outlet that the company was primarily focused on neighborhoods like Dupont Circle, Foggy Bottom, and Penn Quarter. Waymo has not commented on the size of its service area nor which neighborhoods it is targeting if it launches next year. The Alphabet-owned company’s manually driven vehicles have been spotted around DC since last year.Launching a robotaxi service in the heart of the federal government is a risky move. The feds have largely taken a back seat in regulating autonomous vehicles, leaving it to the states to develop their own rulebooks for safe deployment. Legislation that would dramatically increase the number of AVs on the road has been stalled in Congress for over seven years, with lawmakers at odds over a range of issues, including safety, liability, and the right number of exemptions from federal motor vehicle safety standards. But beyond that, DC is its own city with its own transportation challenges. It has some of the worst traffic congestion in the US thanks to an ever-expanding population and stagnate infrastructure. Waymo hasn’t said how many vehicles it intends to bring to DC. Waymo currently operates its driverless ridehailing vehicles in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix. It recently launched a partnership with Uber in Austin, and it plans to expand that deal to Atlanta later this year. It also plans to operate robotaxis in Silicon Valley and Miami. In DC, customers will use the company’s ridehail app, Waymo One, to summon driverless vehicles. Waymo currently provides 200,000 passenger trips a week using the app. DC has seen some autonomous testing before. Cruise, General Motors’ now-defunct AV subsidiary, tested several of its vehicles there. Another defunct company, Ford-backed Argo AI, has also previously tested autonomous vehicles in the district. Waymo markets itself as a safer option than human-driven vehicles. The company has released insurance data that shows its vehicles cause less property damage and fewer bodily injuries when they crash than human drivers.
