I switched from HDMI to DisplayPort and fixed PC gaming bottlenecks I didn’t know I had

Bottlenecks in PC gaming don't always occur due to the CPU, GPU, or even the software. Some overlooked elements, such as the cable connecting to the monitor or the display output port, rarely enter the conversation because they are thought to "just work." Claude Code, Codex, and Pi can create their own AI agents now, and that changes everything

Agentic AI is the big thing right now, with names like OpenClaw and NemoClaw filling column inches, telling you to use or to stay away. Agents can organize your computer or delete your inbox, and Microsoft wants to put them into everything Windows.

Microsoft is finally letting you delay Windows updates to a day you actually want

The topic of using Windows Update has always been a tug-of-war between the user and Microsoft. Users would prefer that they update Windows on their own whim, while Microsoft would prefer that everyone download the updates as soon as they are released for the new fixes and features.

Microsoft has started testing its own virtual mouse cursor inside its Xbox mode for Windows-based handhelds. The new Gamepad Cursor option provides a quick way to turn the left stick of a handheld like the Xbox Ally X into a virtual mouse. While Asus has its own cursor as part of Armory Crate, Microsoft's Gamepad Cursor lives inside its own Xbox mode in Windows 11, and it's easy to activate from the Game Bar without having to use Armory Crate. Once activated, the Gamepad Cursor will turn your left stick into a mouse for precise control, or for apps that aren't designed for controllers. The left stick will scroll around a screen like a mous …Read the full story at The Verge.

The Pura X Max’s wide aspect ratio should make it a better option for watching horizontal video. | Image: Huawei Apple and Samsung have both been strongly linked with plans for foldable phones in a boxy, wide aspect ratio, but it looks like another company will get there first. Huawei has just revealed the design of the Pura X Max, a new foldable it's launching in China next week, and its passport-esque form factor is a dead ringer for early leaks of the iPhone Fold.We don't know too much about the Pura X Max yet, which will get a full release on April 20th alongside the colorful Pura 90 series, but early images shared by Huawei show blue, white, orange, and black versions of the phone, all featuring a triple rear camera. AI and automation are two terms we’ve all heard enough over the past few years. Tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and agentic automation platforms like OpenClaw are everywhere right now, but some of us prefer to self-host our own stack. I’ve been experimenting with different setups to build an AI automation stack, and the best combination I’ve landed on includes n8n, Dify, and Ollama. n8n is already my favorite automation tool, and when you throw it into the mix with the other two, you get an AI automation stack that can rival even the cloud.

SSD prices are still climbing, yet you are killing your drive for no good reason

In case you didn't notice, storage prices have been flying high for the last few months. It didn't start with SSDs and HDDs, though. The AI-induced DRAM shortage led to price hikes in consumer memory, and SSDs were the next victim. If you compare the price of a 2TB Gen4 NVMe SSD in September vs. now, you'll see up to a 3x increase. This isn't normal, but it is the reality we're living in right now. Even hard drives have seen a 30–40% price hike as demand shifts from flash storage to spinning drives. Analysts have predicted that we won't see a turnaround till 2028 — that spells doom for data hoarders and power users looking to expand their storage. Even if you aren't in the market to buy a new SSD, you need to be extra cautious about using your existing one. You may be unknowingly reducing your SSD's lifespan, which, in this market, is one of the worst things you can do to your drive.

I built a $100 ePaper photo frame that never touches the cloud, and it looks like a real print

Digital photo frames have been around for years, and yet, somehow, the best options still require you to hand your photos to someone else's server. We've got Google's Nest Hub which pulls from Google Photos and Amazon's Echo Show that pulls from Amazon Photos. Even dedicated frames from the likes of Aura and Nixplay route everything through their own cloud. They all look great on a shelf, sure, but your device is at the whim of those companies graciously continuing to support them as time goes on.

AI tools may be why Linux 7.0’s RC cycle was so choppy, but Linus just shipped it anyway

Linux 7.0 didn't have the smoothest of release candidate phases. Linus reported that some of the early builds had some of the biggest numbers of changes he had ever seen, and there was the ever-present chance of him deciding to push back Linux 7.0's release to ensure everything was running smoothly. However, because Linus noted that the majority of the changes were small tweaks instead of huge fixes for system-critical issues, he forged ahead regardless.

I switched from Proxmox to its FreeBSD counterpart on my home server – here’s how it went
