AMD released the Ryzen 9000 series in 2024, running on the same AM5 platform as the Ryzen 7000 series of chips. Compared to previous-gen AMD processors, Zen 5 made notable efficiency and performance improvements. Sitting just behind the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X flagship is the Ryzen 9 9900X with 12 cores and 24 threads. It's an incredible chip, but so is the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X. Sure, it may have six fewer cores, but that's still six to work with at up to 5.4 GHz before overclocking.

The company says its Gmail Q&A feature is starting to roll out on Android and that the feature will be “coming soon” to iOS. Using Gmail Q&A, “you can ask Gemini questions about your inbox or to do things like find specific details in your emails, show you unread messages, view messages from a specific sender, or summarize emails about a topic in your inbox,” according to Google’s blog post. After months of silence, Microsoft finally revealed that Copilot's most controversial feature, Recall, would be making a return starting in October . Not everyone was happy with its return, especially given how Microsoft needs to do a lot more to convince users to use Recall . Fortunately, it seems that the company has added the ability to uninstall Recall from Windows, but the feature may not roll out to everyone.

The idea that one desktop operating system, like macOS, Windows, or Linux, can be the absolute best is a false notion. As much as I love using the best Macs for productivity work, I understand two basic factors that influence desktop users above all else. It's not about specs, hardware, user-interface, or even any one specific feature. Instead, the OS that you know how to use and feel familiar with will likely always be preferred, and the type of work you need to do will play a role as well. I've been a macOS user my entire life, and I don't think using Windows 11 will ever feel as natural to me as using macOS Sonoma.

A redundant array of independent disks (RAID) helps to protect network-attached storage (NAS) and other devices against data loss when multiple drives are used. A bunch of drives can be brought together on a NAS to create a single volume or storage pool. This makes it easier to work with data across multiple devices. A RAID achieves the same result but has the bonus of redundancy through reserved bacup data and drive failure tolerances. Combining a NAS with RAID is an easy way to create a powerful, yet user-friendly storage solution for the local area network (LAN).

When Windows 11 first hit the scene, there was a lot of confusion about its system requirements. People who had hardware more than capable of rendering an operating system smoothly were being told that their computers didn't meet the hardware requirements. After a few weeks of confusion, Microsoft revealed why some older gaming PCs were being turned away from Windows 11: it's because the CPU didn't support TPM 2.0. If your CPU was too old to support it, it wasn't compatible with Windows 11: end of story.
