If you've logged into your Google account recently on a supported device, you may have been offered the opportunity to set up passwordless login with your device being the key to enter. This isn't unique to Google, and in fact, services across the globe are starting to embrace passwordless security paradigms that instead rely on a physical "key" of sorts that you have to get in. There are quite a few things that will need to happen first before the world can switch to passwordless, though.

Windows 11 PCs with Arm processors are getting a big upgrade for Insiders today. Microsoft is now rolling out build 27744 in the Canary channel, and it comes with a major upgrade to the Prism emulator that allows x86-based apps to run on Arm devices, opening support to a wider range of apps that may not have worked on these devices before.

Having an old laptop at home that you don't know what to do with can be frustrating since it's just sitting there taking up space. You might be tempted to just throw it away or recycle it, but before you do that, there are a few ways you can re-use that old laptop to give it a new life and make it useful again.

Well, you have to give it to Microsoft; when it sets its eyes on a goal, it carries it through regardless of what happens. Copilot+ hasn't had the best reception, partly due to its flagship feature, Recall, coming under scrutiny from privacy advocates and has now been delayed twice over. So, has the Redmond giant given up? Hardly; in fact, the company is now rolling out AI tools for Paint and Notepad on the Insiders channel.

Internet of Things (or IoT) devices have a notoriously bad reputation for security. As devices designed to have the smallest footprint possible (that is, to be tiny, low power, and cheap), manufacturers often resort (intentionally or not) to less-than-best security practices in order to lower their costs and maximize profits. This can be true of everything from smart home sensors, Wi-Fi-connected lightbulbs or smart home appliances. Especially if you're buying from a region of the world where you might have broader security concerns, it's best to take steps to keep these devices secure.

Illustration: The Verge Roblox is going to block kids from accessing certain types of experiences following reports alleging that the platform has enabled child abuse.One new measure will stop kids under 13 from accessing experiences with “certain types of interactive features,” Roblox says in a post on its developer forum. Those include “social hangouts,” where the primary purpose is to communicate with others over text or voice chat, and “free-form 2D user creation” experiences, where players can do things like draw on a chalkboard or whiteboard.
