Apple TV+ Before AI meant you could impersonate someone’s voice with just a snippet of audio, con artists needed actual skill to impersonate famous figures. Take Hargobind Tahilramani, who allegedly impersonated such powerful Hollywood women as Amy Pascal, Kathleen Kennedy, and Wendi Deng Murdoch. Now, it’s a documentary from Tiger King’s Chris Smith. The scam artist dubbed “the Con Queen of Hollywood” sent victims to Indonesia, then extracted cash for what seemed like normal expenses, promising reimbursements. The reimbursements never appeared. Scott Johnson at The Hollywood Reporter first broke the story in 2018, then followed it, eventually writing a book. The Apple TV Plus documentary is based on that work. It premieres on May 8th.In 2020, T... Continue reading…

One of the best parts of building a custom PC is making it your own, since no two custom-builds will end up exactly the same. There are a lot of ways to make your high-end gaming PC uniquely stand out from the rest, including by picking a stylish PC case, adding RGB components and accessories, and creating a custom cooling system. Those are classic, tried-and-tested options that date back to the early days of PC building. In 2024, there's a new option, and in many ways it's better and more uncommon than the others. You can install something known as a sub-screen into your existing PC case, and it's a secondary display that can display graphics, widgets, performance stats, and much more.

Image: Supercell Supercell doesn’t release a lot of games, but the studio’s mobile releases tend to be big hits. Think Clash of Clans, Brawl Stars, and Clash Royale. Now, the developer is gearing up for its next major release: Squad Busters, which will be out globally on both Android and iOS on May 29th.It’s a competitive multiplayer game, but one on a larger scale than a typical mobile release. In each match, 10 players compete to collect the most gems while building up a squad of computer-controlled characters. It’s sort of like a simplified MOBA: you move your team around fighting minions, earning cash that lets you improve and grow your squad before you eventually start fighting other players and going for the big gem pile in the middle of the map.... Putting together a custom PC isn't a one-and-done purchase like consoles, and it requires a lot of effort to understand things like your needs, product compatibility, budget, and more. Additionally, you also have to track down and source individual components like the CPU and GPU before you can even get to the somewhat challenging part of building the PC. This entire process can be just as frustrating as it is rewarding, and it's certainly not for everyone.

Illustration: The Verge The reminders you’ve jotted down in Google Keep will soon show up in Tasks. Google says the long-requested integration is coming over the next year, allowing you to see, edit, and complete your Keep reminders across Tasks, Calendar, and Assistant. The change will make Tasks the central hub for all to-dos and reminders, hopefully making them far easier to manage. It’s something my colleague David Pierce suggested when talking about Google’s upgraded Keep app last year, saying, “Now, Google, make Keep reminders show up in Tasks. It’s right there!” Image: Google Even though Tasks doesn’t support location-based reminders like Keep does, Google states (referring to Keep) that you can still “add time or location-based...
