Intel used to be the brand that was synonymous with the word "premium" (or "overpriced" depending on how you look at it), but recently the company has embarked on an aggressive pricing strategy for its long-standing CPU lineup and its brand-new series of GPUs. This generation, it's Intel that has the most to offer for anyone looking for the best value when building or upgrading their PC. For just $1,000, you can build a PC that's great at gaming, productivity, and is ideal for upgrading in the future using Intel hardware.

Counter-Strike 2 players could get unceremoniously banned for using Anti-Lag Plus. | Image: Valve Counter-Strike 2 developers strongly warned players in a post that they’ll be banned if they turn on AMD’s Anti-Lag feature for CS2. According to the post, the features from the most recent driver updates are “implemented by detouring engine dll functions,” adding that when AMD updates the drivers, the team will work on “identifying affected users and reversing their ban.” AMD added support for Anti-Lag Plus in CS2 in the Adrenaline Edition version 23.30.1 driver. The feature is exclusive to Radeon RX 7000-series GPUs, so older hardware shouldn’t be affected. We emailed AMD for a statement on the issue. Engadget notes that you can disable the feature by pressing Alt+L, and points out that you can verify the hotkey assignment in AMD... Continue reading…

Back in June, Apple revealed macOS Sonoma during WWDC23's opening keynote. Since then, we've been testing this release on the latest Macs and trying out its new features. At this point, though, we've pretty much used all the new additions and changes, and we're already anticipating the upcoming major release. macOS 15 could be announced in early June, and while there is a lot to look forward to, there are five specific features I'd love to see.

If you recently moved from a Windows PC to a new Chromebook, you might have noticed a few key differences. There are several design differences between the two operating systems, but there's also a bit of a usability learning curve. In addition to different settings, there are keyboard touchpad changes on ChromeOS.

It's been a pretty rough couple of years for PC enthusiasts due to the ongoing chip shortage. Buying a new excellent graphics card is still very difficult unless you're willing to pay a ridiculous amount of cash, even at MSRP. The best motherboards are similarly expensive, as are almost every other component that slots into them. This is why picking up a pre-built PC is still a viable way to own a computer in 2023. Sure, it's not going to reward you with the satisfaction of building your own PC, but at least you won't have to worry about the stocks or pay an absurd amount of money. There are plenty of reliable places to shop for pre-built PCs, and CyberPowerPC happens to be one of them. It's worth mentioning that 14th-gen Intel CPUs release later this year, so there could be even bigger deals to be had on earlier product lines.

Windows Subsystem for Android is has been here for quite a while now. You can run it on any Windows 11 machine, though it comes preloaded with the Amazon Appstore instead of the Play Store. In case you're not happy with the mandatory Amazon Appstore integration, you should be happy to hear that the app sideloading process isn't difficult either. It is also possible to install a third-party Google Play Store client, but the lack of Google services in the Windows Subsystem for Android makes it a bit hard to use apps that are dependent on them, as we noted in our hands-on.

This weekend, Logan Paul climbs into the ring to go toe-to-toe with Dillon Danis. The fight promises to be a brawler, as the tension between these two influencers is off the scale. During the pre-fight press conference, the two got into a scuffle that ended up with Danis smashing Paul in the face with his microphone. We're just glad that when the gloves are on, there won't be any other implements in the ring.

Illustration: The Verge Caltech has had some ups (winning $1.1 billion) and some downs (losing the $1.1 billion award and being ordered to a trial on damages) since suing Apple and Broadcom in 2016 over Wi-Fi patents. Reuters reported this week that Caltech is dropping its yearslong lawsuit against Apple and Broadcom, about two months after the companies came to a “potential settlement.”Caltech wrote in a filing with a US District Court in California that it would drop its claims “with prejudice,” meaning it can’t refile its case, and asked that Broadcom do so as well, stating later that Broadcom “does not oppose this request.” Caltech also writes that it will dismiss its claims against Apple — again, “with prejudice.”The filing then says that Caltech... It's been over five years since the first Windows on Arm PCs started showing up, but despite that long period, Arm-based Windows devices haven't caught on all that much, although Microsoft finally started taking it more seriously in 2022. It announced a native developer toolchain for Arm and even launched a new, more powerful Windows Dev Kit with an Arm processor. There are also Windows Arm PCs like the Surface Pro 9 with 5G and the Lenovo ThinkPad X13s, and soon, we'll have the brand-new Snapdragon X series of processors to deliver true high-end performance for Windows on Arm.

Now that we've had time to spend with the iPhone 15 Pro and the bigger iPhone 15 Pro Max, we've uncovered a few quirks about these devices. Apple decided to replace the traditional mute switch on the iPhone 15 Pro series with a new, customizable Action button. That's great for using the device, but not every case manufacturer anticipated the switch. Some iPhone 15 Pro cases feature a mute switch cutout instead of a physical button, which isn't a great experience. Luckily, there are some cases that have a physical Action button, and we've rounded them up here. We've curated a list of the best iPhone 15 Pro cases you can buy right now below.

If you recently made the move to ChromeOS from a Mac or Windows PC, the new keyboard layout can be confusing. One of the first things you probably noticed is that your new Chromebook keyboard doesn't have a Caps Lock key. After that initial shock subsided, you probably started thinking about your beloved keyboard shortcuts. When it comes to keyboard shortcuts, it's hard to find a more important trio than copying, cutting, and pasting. Whether you use your laptop primarily for work or for play, you likely use this functionality daily.
