Your monitor’s HDR settings are almost certainly wrong on Windows

Whenever my gaming friends tell me that HDR looks bad on Windows, I usually ask a simple follow-up question: "Did you actually calibrate it?" Most of the time, the answer is no. And honestly, I get it. HDR on Windows isn't exactly all that straightforward, even though it seems that...
Whenever my gaming friends tell me that HDR looks bad on Windows, I usually ask a simple follow-up question: "Did you actually calibrate it?" Most of the time, the answer is no. And honestly, I get it. HDR on Windows isn't exactly all that straightforward, even though it seems that way in the settings app. You flip the HDR toggle, expecting cinematic highlights and deeper contrast, and instead get a washed-out desktop, making you wonder if it's all worth the trouble for a couple of HDR videos or a handful of supported games.

Someone tried an entirely vibe-coded operating system, and it wasn’t great

How in-depth do you think a vibe-coded app can go in terms of features and complexity? Depending on who you'd ask, you'd likely get different replies. Fans of AI programming will likely predict that programmers will end up more as AI wranglers than coders, while critics will point to vibe...

Today Nothing has revealed the 4A and 4A Pro, its latest midrange phones. The two look startlingly different from one another, with varying designs and Glyph Light interfaces. I blocked my smart TV from reaching the internet, and it actually loads apps faster now

Your smart TV likes to pretend that it's capable of running apps like a smartphone or PC, but it's more than likely horrifically underpowered, both in terms of software and hardware. I have a Samsung RU7100 from 2019, making it almost seven years old at this point. It's not ancient...
Your smart TV likes to pretend that it's capable of running apps like a smartphone or PC, but it's more than likely horrifically underpowered, both in terms of software and hardware. I have a Samsung RU7100 from 2019, making it almost seven years old at this point. It's not ancient by any means, but it's notably behind the trend compared to newer screens. Still, this entry-level smart TV offered some impressive specs and experience at a reasonable price, and we decided to pick up the 65-inch model for the living room. Unfortunately, it turned out to be not that smart.

I ditched Google Translate for this self-hosted alternative that’s just as accurate

I’ve been using Google Translate for a long time, and honestly, I never had any major issues with it. It’s fast, accurate, and easy to use. But as I started self-hosting more tools in my workflow, I began wondering if I could move translation in-house as well.

Nothing’s Headphone A are something worth considering

The Headphone A keep the shape and style of Nothing’s over-ear design, but with an opaque instead of transparent case. After the release of the Headphone 1 last year - Nothing's first over-ear headphones - the company is back with the Headphone A. They're a slimmed-down over-ear option that keep...
The Headphone A keep the shape and style of Nothing’s over-ear design, but with an opaque instead of transparent case. After the release of the Headphone 1 last year - Nothing's first over-ear headphones - the company is back with the Headphone A. They're a slimmed-down over-ear option that keep the Nothing design aesthetic and excellent controls while decreasing the weight and bumping battery life up to a maximum of 135 hours. There are some concessions - middling call quality and a carrying bag instead of a case - but they're also cheaper at $199. The Headphone A makes more sense to me than the Headphone 1 ever did, and are a great second offering from Nothing. The Headphone A's design is incredibly similar to the Headphone 1's. Each earpiece has the same …Read the full story at The Verge.

On one hand, they are programmed to be your loyal digital assistant and likely won't use your credentials to shop for RAM on Amazon to upgrade themselves. On the other hand, it just feels wrong from a cybersecurity point of view. If someone can fool an AI to spit out your passwords without you knowing, they can do some serious damage.
