If I'm using an Android device, I always opt for the Pixel line because I appreciate Google's clean take on Android. The UI is simple, straightforward, and easier to navigate than Samsung's One UI, especially if you're like me and also use an iPhone. Even from a hardware perspective, the Pixel is very understated, especially the most recent Pixel 10 series and its cicular camera bump.

Sometimes you stumble upon the trifecta of a perfect DIY project: it uses popular hardware, you can hook it up to Home Assistant, and it's really impressive. NVMe SSDs are known for their blazing-fast sequential speeds compared to the humble SATA SSDs. Even the older Gen3 drives are about 7 times faster than what SATA SSDs are capable of. However, not every NVMe SSD is guaranteed to perform better than every SATA drive in every scenario. Depending on the make and model of your NVMe drive, it can very well exhibit slower transfer speeds than a quality SATA SSD, sometimes even dropping to HDD speeds. The sustained performance of any SSD depends on the type of NAND and the cache configuration inside it. For the average user, NVMe trumps SATA hands down, but anyone transferring large files and running professional workloads needs to buy NVMe storage more carefully to avoid underwhelming performance.

Whenever we're facing performance issues while gaming, we're usually quick to point fingers at our GPU. That does make sense to an extent, since it's the component responsible for most of the heavy lifting when it comes to graphics workloads. So when your frame rates look underwhelming while monitoring with MSI Afterburner, it's almost instinctive to assume the GPU is struggling to keep up.
