NotebookLM’s Slide Decks finally got the two features it desperately needed

No matter how many tools I try out to improve my research workflow and study smarter instead of harder, I always find myself returning to NotebookLM. I’ve been using it since before Google publicly launched it, and it’s remained a constant in my workflow ever since. While the tool initially launched with little more than the ability to query the documents you uploaded to your notebook, Google’s given it a complete overhaul since then, adding a bunch of new features — all while staying true to its original purpose of grounding every answer in your material rather than pulling from the open web.

I don’t crave an OLED TV anymore — 4 features I want more than inky blacks

OLED has been the superior panel technology for TVs and monitors for many years now. The per-pixel dimming that gives OLEDs their signature contrast is unparalleled by any other panel type. I'd love to upgrade to an OLED TV, but the premium price is still quite prohibitive.

The Steam Deck OLED is in stock right now on Steam

In a surprise move, Valve has restocked the Steam Deck OLED in the US, but given how difficult it's been to hunt down the console lately, it will likely sell out soon. Currently, only the $550 512GB version of the handheld is in stock.

On Friday afternoon, Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, accusing Anthropic, the AI company behind Claude, of attempting to "STRONG-ARM" the Pentagon and directing federal agencies to "IMMEDIATELY CEASE" use of its products. At issue is Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's refusal of an updated agreement with the US military agreeing to "any lawful use" of Anthropic's technology, as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth mandated in a January memo, to the frustration of many tech workers across the industry. As we explained earlier this week, that agreement would give the US military access to use the company's services for mass domestic surveillance and …Read the full story at The Verge.

NASA announced at a press conference on Friday that it's delaying its plans for a Moon landing until Artemis IV in 2028. The Artemis III mission, scheduled for 2027, was originally going to attempt to land on the Moon but will now be a test flight instead. NASA also says it's "increasing its cadence of missions," including adding a second test flight in 2027 and aiming for "at least one surface landing every year thereafter," including the Artemis IV landing. The overhaul to the Artemis launch schedule follows a report from NASA's Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel (ASAP) earlier this month that highlighted serious safety risks with NASA's p …Read the full story at The Verge.

On Friday, the two companies announced plans to merge into a massive media company that will fold WBD's studio, linear channels, streaming service, and gaming segment into Paramount.Though WBD initially signed onto an $83 billion agreement to merge part of Warner Bros. with Netflix, Paramount persisted with a hostile takeover bid, followed by a series of offers. Plex didn’t become a default name in self-hosted media by accident. It earned that spot by being the option you could recommend to almost anyone, including people who don’t want to learn new words like “transcoding” or “reverse proxy.” For years, the biggest barrier to switching away from it wasn’t the server; it was the client situation on the house’s biggest screens. When your TV platform doesn’t have a clean, native app, the best features in the world stay trapped behind friction.

Of course, you can try to mimic the SteamOS experience with alternatives like Bazzite, but what would happen if you were to try and run proper SteamOS on a PC that isn't even designed for gaming in the first place?
