If you've been trying to build the perfect storage system, you'd have probably realized by now that no such thing exists. That said, you can certainly get close with a whole lot of trial and error. If you're anything like me, you've probably got a tower of internal and external hard disks collecting dust, maybe a few cloud-connected drives, and definitely a few NAS drives waiting to be perfectly organized some day.

I’m quietly optimistic about Intel Arc series GPUs
Among enthusiasts, journalists and tech YouTubers alike, the Intel Arc Series has garnered a substantial following, scripting what is shaping to be Team Blue's comeback story. Intel might be poised to shake up NVIDIA and AMD's duopoly in the GPU marketplace in the coming years.

This cool Raspberry Pi project uses a LiDAR to measure rooms
You know, I think we need a lot more Raspberry Pi LiDAR projects. Granted, I've never worked with a LiDAR scanner before, so I have no idea how hard it is to wire one up to a Raspberry Pi. All I know is, whenever someone does manage it, the project...
You know, I think we need a lot more Raspberry Pi LiDAR projects. Granted, I've never worked with a LiDAR scanner before, so I have no idea how hard it is to wire one up to a Raspberry Pi. All I know is, whenever someone does manage it, the project they make is usually really cool, and I want to see more of them. The last time I saw one was back in April, when someone made a LiDAR scanner project which I really liked the look of.

One of the best ways to dodge Windows 11’s system requirements has just released version 2.0
Hopefully, if you've intended to move from Windows 10 to 11, you've either signed up for the Windows 10 ESU plan or made the jump by now. If you're in the former camp, it's still a good idea to keep your eyes on what's happening over in Windows 11's camp,...
Hopefully, if you've intended to move from Windows 10 to 11, you've either signed up for the Windows 10 ESU plan or made the jump by now. If you're in the former camp, it's still a good idea to keep your eyes on what's happening over in Windows 11's camp, as Microsoft has hinted that the ESU will only last for three years total. The company also stated that it plans to raise the cost of continuing each year for business customers, and there's a good chance they'll do it for consumers, too.

Apple made a $230 crossbody… sock

Yeah, that’s a fancy iPhone sock. If you were confused about Apple releasing a crossbody iPhone strap, then you’re going to find its new iPhone Pocket even more perplexing. The Pocket is actually a knitted bag, though it might be more apt to describe it as a sock designed to snugly encase your iPhone, instead of just sticking it in your purse or pocket. This limited edition collaboration with Japanese designer Issey Miyake can be yours for an eyewatering $229.95. That’s for the crossbody version available in blue, brown, or black. A shorter version is available in additional color options (including vivid orange, yellow, purple, pink, and turquoise) for $149.95, which can be hooked over your arm or tied to a bag.Apple says the 3D-knitted design was inspired by “a piece of cloth” (yes, really), and was born from the idea “of creating an additional pocket” that accommodates “any iPhone” and small everyday items. That means it can carry more than Apple’s $59 crossbody iPhone strap. “The design of iPhone Pocket speaks to the bond between iPhone and its user, while keeping in mind that an Apple product is designed to be universal in aesthetic and versatile in use,” according to Miyake Design Studio’s design director, Yoshiyuki Miyamae. “iPhone Pocket explores the concept of ‘the joy of wearing iPhone in your own way.’”At least Steve Jobs had the good sense to mock the $29 iPod Socks as “a revolutionary new product” when unveiled back in 2004.The iPhone Pocket will be available to purchase online starting November 14th, and from a handful of Apple Store locations in the US, France, Greater China, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the UK.Update, November 11th: Added link to infamous iPod Socks launch.

Arduino has been a long-beloved producer of microcontrollers and single-board computers, existing in the same realm as the Raspberry Pi but never truly competing against it. Yet the company's sudden and surprising acquisition by Qualcomm was announced alongside the launch of the Arduino Uno Q, a single-board computer powered by a Qualcomm SoC and running Linux out of the box. It's the first "true" Raspberry Pi competitor from Arduino, and it's... weird.

NotebookLM users are seeing early signs of a feature I’ve been waiting for since day one

The creator of Task Manager explains why people hate Windows 11, and how Microsoft can fix it

I like a good OS debate as much as anybody else, but when it comes to making the calls on the current state of Windows, Dave Plummer should be the voice you listen to. If you don't recognise that name, you'll likely know him more for his work instead of his title, as he was the one that built the Task Manager that has saved so many of our hides during a bad Windows session.

The PvPvE madness in the game, along with the dangerously addictive gameplay loop, has been battling my sleeping hours and winning gloriously, too.

My self-hosting journey started with a single TrueNAS machine cobbled together from old computer parts, starting more as a curiosity experiment than anything serious. I already had experience with Docker, virtual machines, and Linux system administration, and I was renting a couple of VPS instances, so the concept wasn't totally foreign to me. Still, it was a foray into something new. Before long, I had Nextcloud and Jellyfin running, automated my backups, and began to use NAS storage for workflows I hadn't even considered before.
