Last month, I made the switch to an OLED monitor, grabbing an attractive deal on the Alienware AW3423DWF. The 34" ultrawide OLED display is miles better than my previous 27" flat IPS monitor, but I didn't sell my old monitor. I continue to use it in my workspace for efficient multitasking and as a vertical monitor for specific use cases. I never realized how much a portrait monitor can add to my daily usage, especially when using programs more suited to it. Now that I've experienced it, I don't think I can ever do without one.

While I settled on a useful start page that also includes my bookmarks, I also wanted to make it easier to save articles that I want to read later. My new browser does have a way to save pages to visit later, but I'm currently not syncing my desktop and mobile apps.

When you're buying a motherboard, the chipset is a shorthand for the kind of features and quality you can expect. A B650 or B850 chipset will entail a relatively reduced feature set compared to an X670 or X870 chipset. A higher-end chipset might give you access to more Gen5 lanes and universal PCIe 5.0 connectivity, but, for most people, the real differences between motherboards lie in features like high-quality VRMs, decked-out I/O, and onboard Wi-Fi, and these aren't tied to the chipset.

Windows is still the world’s dominant desktop operating system, but that dominance is being tested. What was once a platform built around efficiency and choice now feels increasingly bloated, ad-filled, and inconsistent. You can’t open the Start menu without seeing a suggestion you didn’t ask for, or browse your files without feeling like you're being watched, or at worst, sold a service. If Microsoft wants to stop users from jumping ship to Linux, it’s not about reinventing Windows, it’s about fixing what people already hate about it.

Even if you ignore the tons of handheld consoles that were released in the past few years, the Steam Deck still puts up a decent fight despite being the pioneer in the scene. People are also noticing that SteamOS runs their games better than Windows 11. With Valve's operating system set for a general release, Microsoft runs the risk of losing market share as users switch over to SteamOS instead, especially if the latter version costs less.

The Italian supercar maker lifted the hood on the technology that will power its hotly anticipated first electric vehicle, the Elettrica. At an event at its Maranello headquarters, Ferrari showed reporters the chassis and powertrain of the upcoming EV, including its battery pack and motors. No actual vehicle was revealed, though. Ferrari expects to reveal the completed car sometime next year, but has yet to settle on a formal name or form factor. (Apparently Elettrica is just a placeholder, but it could become the official name.) Some outlets speculated the EV could be a shooting brake, wagon, or small crossover, based on some of the camouflaged mules that have been spotted driving around Italy. But Ferrari did release some important details about its EV, such as a top speed of 193mph, an output of up to 1000 horsepower in boost mode, and 329 miles of range on the more-generous WLTP system. And rather than just faking an engine noise, as so many electric sports and muscle cars do these days, Ferrari will amplify actual vibrations from its powertrain to create a distinct sound. This works by mounting an accelerometer underneath the inverter to capture the vibrations of the motor and project them through a “proprietary algorithm,” as Ferrari says in its press materials. There’s a lot more to like if you’re a driving fan, including independent electric motors, rear-wheel steering, and an active suspension system that fully eliminates the anti-roll bar. With four doors and four-plus seats, the new EV will likely have more in common with Ferrari’s Purosangue SUV than other models in its lineup. This will also be the automaker’s first four-door vehicle ever. Of course, this is an EV that will be targeted at the new generation of rich kid, with Reuters reporting that the Ferrari Elettrica will likely cost at least €500,000 euros ($580,400). The chassis will be made with 75 percent recycled aluminum, while the fast-charging battery will be fully integrated into the floor of the vehicle for a low center of gravity. The Elettrica’s 15-module battery is comprised of a nickel-manganese-cobalt chemistry with a gross energy of 122kWh and cells supplied by SK On. The pack, though, is assembled by Ferrari itself. The company hasn’t shared an overall torque figure, but says it’ll accelerate from 0-62 mph (100 kph) in 2.5 seconds. Ferrari says it’ll be able to charge at up to 350 kW thanks to its 800-volt architecture. And there will be a system that simulates gear-shifting but actually controls the regenerative braking. Like other sports car brands, Ferrari has been slow to embrace electrification. The company has already delayed a second EV until 2028 because of lack of demand. Meanwhile, rival Lamborghini has delayed its first EV until 2029, citing fluctuating demand.

It has finally happened — Forza Horizon is coming to Japan. The Land of the Rising Sun has been one of the most-requested locations for a new Horizon game for years now, and at the 2025 Tokyo Games Show, Microsoft finally announced Japan as the next location in the Horizon series, with the game set to come out some time in 2026.

The Apple Vision Pro is getting new “immersive” content for the upcoming NBA season: a “selection” of live Los Angeles Lakers games that will be available to watch on the headset in the Apple Immersive Video format, Apple announced today. “Vision Pro users will be able to feel the intensity of each game as if they were courtside, with perspectives that are impossible to capture in traditional broadcasts,” Apple says.The Vision Pro has a growing library of immersive content designed to take advantage of the powerful tech in the headset, including a scripted short that takes place inside a submarine, a Metallica concert, and even a short film from the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend. But these Lakers games will be the first sports that you can watch live in Apple Immersive Video.The first Lakers game in Apple Immersive will be available early next year via the NBA app or the new Spectrum SportsNet app. The full schedule of games will be revealed later this fall, according to Apple. You’ll also need to have visionOS 26 on your Vision Pro to be able to watch them.
