Out of all the things Windows 11 brings to the table, I think the Start menu bugs me the most. Not because it doesn't do the job it's designed to do (it does, for the most part), but because there are some seemingly easy-to-add features that have still not been implemented after all these years. For instance, you can't manually resize the Start menu. Granted, I am no Microsoft engineer, so I cannot say for sure what is and isn't easy to program, but...it doesn't feel that complicated from an outsider perspective.

WireGuard is one of the most efficient, modern VPN protocols available today, while also remaining secure and open-source. With that said, while the protocol itself is sound, managing your own WireGuard network can be difficult depending on your network type, the number of users that you need to have, and the access limits that you want to set. That's where Tailscale comes in, built on top of WireGuard while simplifying many parts of the process.

Why my next RAM upgrade won’t be a 64GB kit

I've been rocking a 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 memory kit ever since I got my current AM4 build. It's natural to consider an upgrade to a 64GB DDR5 kit when I eventually move to AM5 in a year or two. After all, 64GB kits aren't exactly "overpriced" on a high-end build,...
I've been rocking a 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 memory kit ever since I got my current AM4 build. It's natural to consider an upgrade to a 64GB DDR5 kit when I eventually move to AM5 in a year or two. After all, 64GB kits aren't exactly "overpriced" on a high-end build, and there are obvious benefits to having more spare memory than ever. However, all things considered, I've decided to stick with 32GB RAM even on my next build. Based on my needs and preferences, spending more on a 64GB kit doesn't make sense (yet).

Black Friday might bring some of the deepest discounts on tech like robot vacuums, but if you’d like to tidy up before Halloween parties and Thanksgiving guests arrive, Amazon’s October Prime Day event features plenty of great robot vacuum deals, including discounts on Roborock’s S8 MaxV Ultra, the budget-friendly Tapo RV30 Max Plus, and Dyson’s powerful 360 Vis Nav. Many of the discounts below will presumably expire when the clock strikes 3AM ET tonight, making now one of your last chances (for now) to save on either a self-emptying cleaning machine or a simple vacuum for tackling everyday messes.Narwal Freo Z UltraWhere to Buy: $1499.99 $749.99 at Amazon (with Prime) $1499.99 $749.99 at Narwal (with code FALLSALE450OFF)The Eufy X10 Pro Omni, our favorite midrange robovac / mop, is down to $499.99 ($400 off), its best price to date, at Amazon (with Prime). The X10 Pro Omni delivers 8,000Pa of suction power, and it’s especially great for cleaning up carpets and tiles. It also features reliable AI-powered obstacle detection, dual oscillating brushes for mopping up floors, and a dock that handles auto-emptying, washing, and refilling.Roborock’s Saros Z70 is available for $1,399.99 ($600 off), a new all-time low price, from Amazon (with Prime), Roborock, and Best Buy. The Matter-compatible robot vacuum features a built-in robotic arm that can pick up small items, such as socks or tissues, although it isn’t always perfect. It’s also capable of climbing over thick carpets and offers great vacuuming prowess, with 22,000Pa of suction power and spinning mop pads that automatically detach when not in use. It even works with Roborock’s Multifunctional Dock 4.0, which allows it to automatically empty, charge, refill, and drain its own water tanks with minimal effort on your part. Read our review.Narwal Freo X UltraA superior mopping bot with a superior price tag, the Narwal is smart enough to know when it needs to go back and mop more and is the best bot for keeping your hard-surface floors spotless. Its vacuuming is good and a unique onboard compression bin means no loud auto-emptying. But its obstacle detection is spotty (there’s no camera), and the app is a challenge. Where to Buy: $899.99 $549.98 at Amazon (with Prime) $899.99 $549.99 at Narwal (with code FALLSALEFXU)Roborock S8 MaxV UltraWith top-notch vacuuming performance, an easy-to-use app, and built-in voice control, the S8 MaxV Ultra is a superb vacuum and good mop which is why it’s our top pick overall. It features Roborock’s best obstacle avoidance, innovative features like dirt detection, and a hands-free dock that makes it an expensive but excellent choice.Where to Buy: $1799.99 $1099.99 at Amazon (with Prime) $1799.99 $1099.99 at Best BuyThe Dreame X40 Ultra is on sale for $664.99 ($535 off), its best price to date, from Amazon (with Prime) and Dreame. The robovac / mop hybrid delivers 12,000Pa of suction power. It comes with an extendable side brush and self-cleaning mop pads, making it ideal for cleaning under furniture and tackling baseboards. The X40 Ultra also boasts a dirt-detection system that can identify and focus on cleaning up particularly messy spills. The SwitchBot S10 is available at Amazon for $319.99, down from $1,199.99 and a new all-time low price. The budget-friendly robot vacuum and mop hybrid offers a lot of convenience for the price, with self-cleaning rolling mops that can dry themselves, a self-emptying bin, and up to 6,500Pa of suction power. The Matter-compatible vac can also run for as long as 90 days and offers decent AI-powered obstacle avoidance; however, in our experience, it can still get tripped up by laundry and other objects on the floor. Read our review.Dreame L20 UltraThe high-end Dreame L20 Ultra is the least hands-on vacuum / mop you can buy. It can remove and reattach its oscillating mopping pads, wash and dry them, refill its water tank, and empty the bin. It can also do the splits with its mops to clean your baseboards better. The newer X30 Ultra has some improvements, but on balance, the L20 is still the best value. Where to Buy: $999.99 $449.99 at Dreame $999.99 $474.9 at Amazon (with Prime)Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and MopThe Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and Mop mops very well — doing a swinging, scrubbing movement with its rear end when in “Matrix mode.” However, you have to manually fill and attach the mop reservoir and empty the bin when it mops, as it only self-empties in vacuum mode and can only avoid larger objects.Where to Buy: $699.99 $349.99 at Amazon $699.99 $349.99 at Best Buy $699.99 $349.99 at SharkThe SwitchBot K10 Plus is on sale for $179.99 ($220 off) at Amazon and SwitchBot’s online storefront (with promo code FLFL64), which is one of its better prices to date. The robovac offers just 2,500Pa of suction, but its small size makes it well-suited for cleaning tighter spaces, and it’s still powerful enough to effectively dig dirt from your average carpet. It also comes with a self-emptying dock and disposable mopping pads, which aren’t the best, but are a handy perk if mopping isn’t a priority. The Roborock Qrevo Slim is available for an all-time low of $799 ($600 off) at Amazon and Roborock. The robovac / mop hybrid measures a mere 3.23 inches thick, ensuring it can clean hard-to-reach areas, such as under beds, couches, and furniture. It’s powered by 3D sensors and has an RGB camera, allowing it to recognize and avoid obstacles. Meanwhile, the dock can automatically wash and dry the vacuum’s mop, so it stays clean between each pass around your space.Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro OmniThe Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni features an extendable mop that can clean itself, just like its predecessor. However, it also features Ecovacs’ Boosted Large-Airflow Suction Technology, which optimizes the airflow path from intake to exhaust, rather than relying solely on suction power. Where to Buy: $1299.99 $899.99 at Amazon (with Prime) $1299.99 $944.99 at Ecovacs $1299.99 $944.99 at Best BuyDeebot X8 Pro OmniThe Deebot X8 Pro Omni remains our favorite robot vacuum / mop. It represents a welcome return to form for Ecovacs’ flagship line, with great obstacle avoidance, a small dock, and a convenient self-cleaning brush system.Where to Buy: $1399.99 $799.99 at Amazon (with Prime) $1399.99 $839.99 at EvovacsYou can grab the Eufy Omni S1 Pro from Eufy for $594.99 ($705 off) when you use promo code WSPDV2DDTABT at checkout. The robovac’s 11.4-inch roller mop and dual spinning side brushes do an excellent job of leaving hardwood floors spotless, and it can even wash and dry itself. Plus, with 8,000Pa of suction power, it’s a decent at picking up dirt and debris from carpets; it also features solid AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so you don’t need to worry about it getting stuck in clutter.iRobot’s Roomba Combo 10 Max is on sale at Amazon and Best Buy for $599.99 ($800 off). It’s our favorite Roomba for pet owners, thanks to its exceptionally powerful suction, dual rubber roller brushes, and self-cleaning mop. Its AI-powered obstacle detection can even distinguish between a pile of popcorn and pet waste, ensuring it steers clear of the latter.Eufy Robot Vacuum Omni C20Eufy’s all-in-one station empties, washes, dries, and refills the Omni C20 between cleanings. The vac also offers 7,000Pa of suction, a rolling brush, a side brush, and a pro-detangle comb to handle debris and unwanted pet hair.Where to Buy: $699.99 $349.99 at Amazon (with Prime) $699.99 $349.99 at Eufy (with code WS24T2280)Tapo RV30 Max PlusOur favorite budget-friendly robot vacuum offers high-end features, including room-specific cleaning, a capable mop, carpet boost, and smart navigation. It also features an auto-empty dock.Where to Buy: $329.99 $229.99 at Amazon (with Prime) $329.99 $229.99 at TP-Link (with code 50TPVCMOP)Eufy’s discontinued 11S Max is available at Amazon (with Prime) for just $139.99 ($140 off), nearly matching its best price to date. The quiet robovac doesn’t connect to Wi-Fi, so you’ll need to control it using the onboard button or the included remote. It lacks higher-end features like self-emptying bins and AI obstacle avoidance, too, but with a decent 2,000Pa of suction power and easily replaceable parts, it’s a solid investment for those working with a relatively tight budget.Speaking of bump-and-roll bots, you can snag the Shark Ion at Amazon (with Prime) for $139.99 ($110 off), which is just $20 shy of its all-time low. It’s a no-frills robot vacuum that’s easy to operate, but still cleans surprisingly well thanks to a hybrid bristle-and-plastic roller brush that resists tangles and a set of big wheels that make crossing floor transitions easy.Dyson 360 Vis Nav robot vacuumDyson’s latest robovac is a great option for simple floor plans and carpets. It boasts a whopping 65 air watts of suction, a huge roller brush, and a spacious 500ml bin with an integrated handle that’s super easy to remove. If you’ve read my articles on XDA, you’ll know that I use Proxmox for the majority of my home lab tasks. After all, LXCs – especially those deployed using the Proxmox VE Helper-Community Scripts repo – are great for running FOSS tools inside containerized environments. Proxmox’s KVM-powered virtualization provisions deserve just as much credit, as it’s possible to run everything from obscure Linux distros to other home server operating systems on a PVE node.

The Inspire 3 can’t do it all, but for a budget band, it handles the basics quite well. The sheer volume of deals available for Prime Big Deal Days can feel overwhelming, and seeing four-figure discounts on a 4K TV or gaming laptop may give you the sense that the biggest discounts are the best. That’s not necessarily true, though, because some of the best deals we’ve seen this year will set you back less than $100. The AirPods 4, base Fire HD 10 Tablet, and Ring Battery Doorbell Plus are three great examples, all of which are on sale at or below their best price to date.Below you’ll find 30 deals for $100 or less from Apple, Google, Amazon, Lego, and more. Many items are under $50 (or even $25!), so you can stock up on chargers, earbuds, media streamers, and other accessories that you’ll rely on every day, or can give as gifts for the holidays. If you are looking to splurge on some more premium gear, we also have Prime Day recs for robot vacuums, noise-canceling headphones, and Apple gear. That said, be aware that Amazon’s sale ends tomorrow, October 9th, so you only have a few more hours to take advantage of it.AirPods 4Apple’s AirPods 4 are the latest update to the company’s base-model wireless earbuds.
