Studying is no easy task. There, I said it, and pretending otherwise simply doesn't help. I'm a full-time student and clock over 40 hours of work a week, so I'm always short on time, focus, sleep, and a lot of time and motivation. At the same time, the last thing I’d want is for that combination to become a reason for my grades to start slipping. That’s why I’ve always been on the lookout for ways to study smarter in the time I have, instead of just pushing harder and pulling all-nighters.

Here’s how I turned my Intel N100 mini PC into the ultimate retro gaming machine

I’ve always had a soft spot for classic games, so I decided to dedicate my Intel N100 mini PC to retro gaming. It’s compact, quiet, and surprisingly powerful for the price, which made it a great candidate for emulation. With the right software and a few tweaks, I turned it...
I’ve always had a soft spot for classic games, so I decided to dedicate my Intel N100 mini PC to retro gaming. It’s compact, quiet, and surprisingly powerful for the price, which made it a great candidate for emulation. With the right software and a few tweaks, I turned it into an all-in-one machine that plays everything from the Atari 2600 to the PlayStation 2. Best of all, it boots right into my game library and feels like a purpose-built console.

As my home network has grown and the number of services I decide to self-host increases, so does the dependency on those services. It's the trade-off between the privacy of having my data firmly on devices I own, and other companies' servers in the cloud, and it comes with a host of added responsibilities. I'm okay with that, but it does mean that I need to find ways to ensure high availability of those services because I'm not the only person in my household, and outages are now my problem.

Windows 95 was a big release for Microsoft in so many ways, and it was a major success, as the software giant sold millions of copies of what we can now refer to as a vintage OS. Windows has undergone significant changes since then, but we can still see remnants of it in more modern versions of Windows. However, these are too few or modified in such a way that they can barely take us down to the Windows 95 memory lane.

I deleted system32 so you don’t have to, and here’s what actually happened

If you have been using Windows for a while, you are likely familiar with the System32 folder. It is located in the C:WindowsSystem32 directory and was introduced back with Windows 2000 (remember that version?). It contains several files that are essential for Windows to function correctly.

I recently got a new ergonomic chair to go with the motorized standing desk in my work setup. The idea was to improve the ergonomics when sitting and working for long hours, since bad posture and slouching can lead to severe health issues in the long run. Apart from a good desk and chair, there are a few other parameters to take care of when working on a computer. For instance, your monitor needs to be at eye level, your arms should be parallel to the ground when typing, and your feet should rest flat on the ground. While the first two requirements were met in my existing setup, my feet weren't always in contact with the ground.
