People love to play video games that put them in the cowl of their favorite superheroes. Whether you're a DC fan who loves becoming Batman or just a big fan of the adventures of the Marvel universe, there's something exciting for everyone in the superhero genre. Luckily, there have been a variety of big releases that have taken some of our favorite Marvel and DC superheroes to new heights, redefining how we view some of the greatest heroes of all time. But not everything has been good for fans of superheroes, as a few major projects were unexpectedly canceled. To some, that signifies a change that could lead to studios moving away from projects featuring some of the biggest comic book heroes.

I didn’t know the PNG file format could receive updates, but it got one anyway

There are millions, if not billions, of images out there on the internet that use the lossless file format to keep things looking crisp, and it's my personal favorite file type when sharing images.

If you ask creatives what their favorite computer mouse is, there's a good chance that the majority will pick a mouse from Logitech's MX Master series. This is mainly because the MX Master series features a range of useful tools that can significantly enhance your productivity when used daily. From multiple customizable buttons to quick gestures that trigger shortcuts, using an MX Master 3 or 3S for tasks such as photo and video editing, browsing the web, and number-crunching in Excel saves a considerable amount of time and effort. I've been using an MX Master 3 for a few years now, and it has certainly made my life easier. Notably, the ergonomic form factor also helps with better handling. That said—like most products—the mouse isn't perfect.

Facebook is starting to feed its AI with private, unpublished photos

For years, Meta's trained its AI programs using the billions of public images uploaded by users onto Facebook and Instagram's servers. But apparently, Meta has decided to try training its AI on the billions of images that users haven't uploaded to those servers. On Friday, TechCrunch reported that Facebook users trying to post something on the Story feature have encountered pop-up messages asking if they'd like to opt into "cloud processing", which would allow Facebook to "select media from your camera roll and upload it to our cloud on a regular basis", to generate "ideas like collages, recaps, AI restyling or themes like birthdays or graduations." By allowing this feature, the message continues, users are agreeing to Meta AI terms, which allows their AI to analyze "media and facial features" of those unpublished photos, as well as the date said photos were taken, and the presence of other people or objects in them. You further grant Meta the right to "retain and use" that personal information.Meta recently acknowledged that it's scraped the data from all the content that's been published on Facebook and Instagram since 2007 to train its generative AI models. Though the comp …Read the full story at The Verge.

I’ve finally tried a vertical monitor setup and I’m blown away

How your monitors should be selected and configured depends almost entirely on what you plan to use your PC for. If it's for competitive gaming, you'll likely have just one screen with a resolution of FHD or QHD and a high refresh rate. Want to be as productive as possible?...
How your monitors should be selected and configured depends almost entirely on what you plan to use your PC for. If it's for competitive gaming, you'll likely have just one screen with a resolution of FHD or QHD and a high refresh rate. Want to be as productive as possible? A dual-screen or ultrawide panel may be your best bet. The latter is what I migrated to in the early 00s with RuneScape, as many who play the MMORPG would be able to attest — it's a dual-screen (or window) game. I then switched to a super-ultrawide monitor in 2022 and was immediately taken by how immersive it was for gaming.

This is the only dashboard I use with my NAS

Once you have more than a handful of services running from home, it's easy to lose track of what's available and which IP addresses are assigned. Internal DNS overrides can help when using a domain name to make things easier, but you'll still have to remember all the different paths, which is where a dashboard can help you out. My favorite is Homepage, a clean and easy-to-customize dashboard with minute system requirements. Here's why it completely changed the way I interact with things hosted on my network-attached storage (NAS) device.

Microsoft really wants you to upgrade to that new Outlook app nobody likes

Have you given the new Outlook app a try yet? While some people are gelling with it, others are finding that it's pretty lacking. Some point out that the new Outlook has removed some of the features they liked, while others lamented about its performance.

I recently discovered that journaling my thoughts is an effective way to express my feelings about work, personal relationships, and the events that occur in my daily life. So, I decided to keep a journal to jot down how I felt about various things every day. For the first few days, I used a conventional diary and pen to write. However, it soon got rather cumbersome to write long paragraphs, especially because I hadn't picked up a pen in a long, long time. So, I decided to switch to digital means. I tried Apple's first-party Journal app as well as Day One, one of the most popular journaling apps, but neither appealed to me. Instead of a dedicated app, I wanted to use one of the apps in my existing arsenal that I use regularly. That's when I figured I could convert Obsidian into a daily journal.

Our water, health, and energy systems are increasingly vulnerable to cyberattack. Now, when tensions escalate - like when the US bombed nuclear facilities in Iran this month - the safety of these systems becomes of paramount concern. If conflict erupts, we can expect it to be a "hybrid" battle, Joshua Corman, executive in residence for public safety & resilience at the Institute for Security and Technology (IST), tells The Verge. "With great connectivity comes great responsibility."Battlefields now extend into the digital world, which in turn makes critical infrastructure in the real world a target. I first reached out to IST for their expertise on this issue back in 2021, when a ransomware attack forced the Colonial Pipeline - a major artery transporting nearly half of the east coast's fuel supply - offline for nearly a week. Since then, The Verge has also covered an uptick in cyberattacks against community water systems in the US, and America's attempts to thwart assaults supported by other governments. It's not time to panic, Corman reassures me. But it is important to reevaluate how we safeguard hospitals, water supplies, and other lifelines from cyberattack. There hap …Read the full story at The Verge.
