Running Linux on a Windows machine means two things. You either need to create a virtual machine that can share the system resources and run a Linux distribution inside it. Or, you can avoid Type 2 hypervisors and dual-boot Linux alongside Windows. Both of these methods let you learn the Linux way, although dual-booting means direct access to the system kernel and hardware.

There’s no denying that cloud platforms are extremely accessible, especially for folks who don’t want to manage all the aspects of hosting their own apps. But despite their extra benefits, I’ve started to grow disillusioned with tools that rely on external servers. Budget 3D printers used to fight over speed, auto-leveling, and how little patience they could demand from a new owner.
