There are so many smart home sensors available that it can sometimes prove difficult to choose the right ones for the job. The issue with choosing a “wrong” sensor if you could be stuck with one that frequently calls home to some far-away server, locks you into a closed ecosystem, requires cloud connectivity, and perhaps won’t last as long as competitor alternatives. Though they aren’t necessarily always expensive, the costs can quickly accumulate, so we must get it right the first time.
