Your ISP router isn’t the problem — where you put it is
It might be easy to fall into the trap of feeling like you need to upgrade your router, and the one provided by your internet service provider simply isn't good enough. However, modern ISP gateways, especially the Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E units distributed over the last few years, feature decent chipsets and capable internal antenna arrays. The problem isn't actually the internal silicon or even the settings. It's that ISPs routinely install these boxes next to incoming utility lines in the worst possible locations in your home, like dark basement corners, inside metal utility closets, or wedged directly behind massive smart TVs. Your ISP router doesn't need to be replaced. It needs to be moved.
