When running multiple services, platforms, and operating systems, one wouldn't be blamed for immediately considering virtual machines (VMs). They're easy to set up and forget, but there are some problems that arise from using multiple VMs within a home lab setting. With the increased availability of Linux containers (LXCs), largely with Proxmox and the release of TrueNAS 26, there's almost a better way for running self-hosted services. Linux containers won't be the greatest choice for everything, but I moved most of my home server to LXCs, and I'm not looking back.

Control Resonant, the upcoming sequel to Remedy Entertainment's Control, will be released on September 24th, 2026, according to a trailer that premiered during Tuesday's PlayStation State of Play show.The trailer also gave a preview of the game's story, which stars Dylan Faden, who was imprisoned for much of the first game. Usually, when we hear about a new piece of hardware, it begs the question: when will we actually see it arrive in devices? Any tech company can stand on a stage and announce a new chip, but if no manufacturers decide to actually use it, then it's pretty much dead on arrival.

While the majority of Summer Game Fest takes place over the weekend, Sony is getting a jump on things with its next State of Play showcase, which airs on June 2nd at 5PM ET. It’s coming at a pivotal time for the PlayStation brand: The PS5 keeps getting more expensive and Sony’s big bet on live-service games has largely fallen flat. A good showing at SGF won’t fix everything, but it could help show that PlayStation is on the right path moving forward.For its part, Sony says its latest State of Play will feature “more than 60 minutes of updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from top studios around the world.” The only confirmed part of the event’s lineup is Wolverine, from Spider-Man developer Insomniac, which is slated to launch in September. Maybe we’ll see the just-announced third expansion for The Witcher 3, or the long-awaited final installment of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, or some more of Intergalactic, the next big project from The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog. Until very recently, the OS wasn't a pain point. It was only when I tried unlocking the bootloader on a Xiaomi phone around 2020 that I realized how cumbersome it was to email the company and wait. For power users, the ability to compile an open-source tool, host it on a personal server, and install it on a daily driver without asking a massive corporation for permission seems fundamental to their digital rights.
