Every generation of Wi-Fi has made significant jumps in terms of maximum throughput, with Wi-Fi 7 bringing us to 46 Gbps (Wi-Fi 6/6E topped out at 9.6 Gbps). This upgrade in speed makes every successive Wi-Fi standard theoretically superior to the previous one, but the average user isn’t seeing the benefit on the ground. Most people in the US are still using 300 Mbps connections, not multi-gig plans that can benefit from Wi-Fi 7.
