Uber is getting ready to put robotaxis on London's streets, opening an interest list for riders who want to be among the first to hail one of Wayve's autonomous vehicles when the service goes live later this year. The rollout would be a milestone in one of Uber's biggest markets and an early test of whether there's appetite for driverless ridehailing beyond the US and China, where robotaxis are already carrying passengers. The company is asking Londoners to show their interest in being among the first public passengers in its co-branded Uber x Wayve driverless cars. In the Uber app settings, customers can sign up by selecting "join interest …Read the full story at The Verge.

Docker Manager finally gave me a container management UI I can use on smartphones
When it comes to control planes and management UIs for Docker containers, you’ve got plenty of options to choose from. Between its sheer number of container tools, built-in CI/CD pipelines, and support for everything from Docker and Podman to K8s, Portainer is the most common option out there. But if you prefer minimalist UIs, Dockhand and Dockge are just as reliable, with the former being my favorite ever since I ran into it a few months ago. But if you’re willing to install community plugins, you can even use Cockpit to control your Docker runtime.

I turned a spare USB drive and Wi‑Fi router into shared storage, no NAS required

When it comes to accessing your files across your network, many people may share a drive or set up a server or NAS running a popular Linux distro. However, one way to share files across your network that you might have forgotten about is to use a spare USB port on a Wi-Fi router. For this demonstration and proof of concept, I am using a thumb drive, but it’s possible to plug in any-sized USB drive, provided there is enough power to run it. I have even used large Western Digital My Book drives with a dedicated power source.

Firefox 153 is finally ditching the Nvidia driver workaround Linux users have hated
As much as I love to tout Linux as the way forward for computing, I do have to admit that it's not perfect. Sometimes, the tech to do what you want just isn't there yet, and you have to rely on workarounds. For example, people using Firefox on Linux with...
As much as I love to tout Linux as the way forward for computing, I do have to admit that it's not perfect. Sometimes, the tech to do what you want just isn't there yet, and you have to rely on workarounds. For example, people using Firefox on Linux with an Nvidia GPU had to rely on the nvidia-vaapi-driver to get the job done. Now, Firefox is finally adding Vulkan rendering, thus removing the need for the workaround.

Microsoft confirms its new t**les are not “timed exclusives” and Gears of War: E-Day will never come to PS5
It hasn't even been a full year since Microsoft dominated PS5's charts with its cross-platform strategy, and the company has already done a 180. During Sunday's Xbox Game Showcase, the company announced that some of its biggest hitters will be Xbox exclusives, which begged the question: will Microsoft stick to its cross-platform plan and release the games for other platforms after a few years?

I tried Cursor 3.0 and I’m not going back to VS Code or Claude Code anytime soon
Being a developer, my playbook has been predictable. I load up VS Code, spend hours fine-tuning my extensions, and eventually integrate tools like Claude Code or standard AI plugins to bridge the gap.

This gorgeous 3D-printable lamp is well worth the effort needed to make it
The coolest thing about 3D printing is that if you want every appliance in your home to look like it time-traveled two centuries back from the future, you can. Sure, it may not be the easiest thing to do in the world, but if you're determined enough and have enough...
The coolest thing about 3D printing is that if you want every appliance in your home to look like it time-traveled two centuries back from the future, you can. Sure, it may not be the easiest thing to do in the world, but if you're determined enough and have enough resin sitting around, it's possible. And what better way to get started on your quest than by making this awesome Cyber Loop Lamp? It's not the easiest project to make, but it's definitely one of the coolest.

Android Auto’s best feature is buried where most drivers never look

Zigbee solved the smart-home battery problem years ago, and Matter still hasn’t

Smart homes feel like a chore sometimes. The passive irritation of the maintenance can slowly build up over time. Let's say you buy into the modern Matter over Thread ecosystem and mount sleek new motion and door sensors around your house. Within eight months, you start getting a barrage of low-battery notifications, and you're constantly buying multi-packs of CR2032 or CR2450 coin cells just to keep your automated house alive.

Jellyfin finally feels good on my TV, but I had to stop using the default client

For the better part of a decade now, Plex has been my media server of choice. I bought the Lifetime Pass a lifetime ago (pun intended), built my library around it, and never really felt the need to look elsewhere. So when I recently started setting up Jellyfin for a few friends (because let's face it, Plex pricing is preposterous now), it wasn't because I was planning to jump ship. However, curiosity got the better of me, and it was pretty impressive just how far the free and open-source alternative had come.

I created a complex presentation using Claude Design, Copilot in PowerPoint, and Gemini in Google Slides – only one of them did a professional job
Anyone who actually builds complex decks for a living knows that a good presentation requires a delicate balance of data density, visual hierarchy, and precise formatting (things AI historically struggles to grasp).

We've seen Axiom Space and Prada's collaboration on the Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) spacesuit. Now the company has revealed the Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garment (LCVG) that astronauts will wear underneath it when Artemis IV returns humans to the Moon in 2028.The LCVG is the all-important base layer that will keep the crew cool and comfortable while inside the AxEMU and on spacewalks. Cold water is circulated through tubes embedded in the suit to whisk heat away from astronauts' bodies. And, should the primary system fail, there is a backup, unlike older cooling suits. The LCVG also houses the ventilation system that su …Read the full story at The Verge.
