On Tuesday, I published a story about how YouTube appeared to be testing hiding the dislike button on videos, with at least two users on X sharing screenshots of the dislike button moved into the three-dot menu. But a YouTube spokesperson, in a Wednesday statement to The Verge, confirmed that YouTube is "not testing hiding the dislike button on YouTube for users." However, YouTube is introducing a new UI for creators on their uploaded videos where the dislike button will be moved. Here's the full statement, from spokesperson Kimberly Taylor:We are not testing hiding the dislike button on YouTube for users. We're introducing a new UI for …Read the full story at The Verge.

Ever since budget Android tablets started packing FHD screens and modern chipsets, the line between premium and entry-level has blurred. If you're looking for a reliable device for media consumption, light productivity, or just everyday browsing, the TCL TAB 10 Gen 4 is a strong contender. Right now, you can get it for just $150 on Amazon, a significant discount off its regular price.

Did you grab LibreOffice over the last eight weeks? If so, you helped The Document Foundation with a huge milestone. The foundation reported that it got 9.4 million downloads over an eight-week period, and 2026's stats already beat 2025.

The Eiliko robot toy. | Photo by Sean Hollister / The Verge Eiliko, a cute robot charm you can hang on your bag with built-in AI conversations, turned out to be a security nightmare. It told owners that "your secrets are safe with me," but hackers could easily read complete transcripts of everything we told the toy, and that was just the beginning. The Verge and security researcher Sammy Azdoufal spent over a month trying to get in contact with the company, including emails to Energize Lab CEO and founder Shaw Yeung. Nobody would answer our questions. Now, the company is finally breaking its silence, though its response leaves something to be desired.View Link"We have confirmed the core issues ide …Read the full story at The Verge.

Google Translate is one of those tools that most of us take for granted. It's free, it’s convenient, and it's usually good enough to get the gist of something written in a language we don't speak. But as local AI models get better, I've started wondering whether sending text to a cloud service should still be the default when our own hardware is increasingly capable of doing the same job.

The Find X10 Pro Max’s design is still camera-centric, but less extreme than most Ultra phones. Oppo's Find X10 Pro Max is the first phone with a triple 200-megapixel camera, which you're likely to see as either a masterful feat of engineering or a load of hyped-up marketing nonsense. The truth is somewhere in the middle. We've seen 200-megapixel cameras in phones before, starting with 2022's Moto X30 Pro. This year's Vivo X300 Ultra was the first phone to feature two of them - with 200-megapixel main and telephoto cameras - and is still my favorite camera phone on the market. With the Find X10 Pro Max, Oppo is trying to do one better: It's the first to use a 200-megapixel ultrawide camera too. Only the selfie camera runs at a more mo …Read the full story at The Verge.

There's a good chance you're running an ISP-supplied router. That's not something to be fearful of. There's nothing inherently wrong with doing so, but you could be losing out on some enterprise-grade functionality for making the most of your local area network (LAN). If you're serious about creating a home lab and self-hosting as much as you can to save money, building your own firewall and router may be a worthwhile project. It's what I did, and I just wish I did it sooner. All you need is a cheap, passively cooled mini PC.

With the newest AI trend of people vibe-coding ways to debloat their smart TV, one person was inspired and decided to try it on their own device. Unfortunately, what they thought was an Android TV ended up not being Android at all, but after almost half a day of work, Claude managed to install a new Apple TV-like home screen, and it needed the user's phone to get the job done.

A thin client is the least exciting device for a normal user. It's something you only see in college and school labs, or workplaces that need a just-enough usable computer to run a bunch of software. In contrast, a mini PC feels more exciting because it has a fairly diverse use case. You can pick entry-level devices with Intel N100 and N150 chips, or go with something more powerful like a six/eight-core CPU and a discrete GPU. For home servers or just as an additional computer, the entry-level mini PCs are more suitable.

For years, Elon Musk has been making big promises to Tesla owners about unsupervised autonomous driving and the ability to add their own vehicles to the company's robotaxi fleet. During today's third-quarter earnings call, the company finally gave itself a deadline. According to Tesla VP for Autonomous Driving Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla owners will be able to add their own vehicles to the company's robotaxi fleet in the second quarter of 2027. Here's his exact quote (emphasis ours):Like I mentioned earlier, the software for Cybercabs and Model Y is the same. And pretty soon we'll be able to release the same software as part of the V15 relea …Read the full story at The Verge.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a crucial security step on the modern internet, using apps like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator to generate one-time security codes. These codes let you sign in more securely, but they're often sent to your phone and they can only really be accessed there.

When talking about laptops with 128GB of unified memory, conversations naturally gravitate towards local LLMs. It's the pretty obvious pitch when it comes to Nvidia's RTX Spark, after all, given its close relation to the DGX Spark's GB10. What's more, being able to run Qwen3.8 Flash Next in a device that you can carry around is pretty incredible. I did exactly that with the HP OmniBook Ultra 16, but I also wanted to see what you can do with all that memory if you aren't running local AI.
