Hear that? That's the sound of Halloween rapidly approaching, and with it, a flurry of sales and holidays to round out 2024. Now, with the rollout of macOS Sequoia, Mac users can do the same. You can get a Spotify playlist up alongside your email inbox, for example, or a report you’re writing up alongside the online articles you’re reporting on. Intel's Arrow Lake family of processors has now found its way to the desktop, where it's competing against AMD's Ryzen 9000 series and Intel's 14th-generation processors (at least until stocks last of the last-gen chips). The Intel Core 9 285K is the new enthusiast-level chip in the lineup, replacing the outgoing Intel Core i9-14900K. Both processors are way more than most users need in their computers, but things like needs aren't the first thing that enthusiasts think about when deciding what to put in their new builds. While both are Intel processors, they require different socket types and, thus, different motherboards. While we have yet to put the Intel Core Ultra desktop chips on our test bench, we have no doubt that it will be a worthy successor to the 14th-gen flagship.

It’s time to dust off your VCR and clean the heads, because Alien: Romulus is coming to VHS as a limited edition on December 3rd alongside the other physical releases, director Fede Alvarez announced during “a special Beyond Fest-partnered screening” in Los Angeles yesterday. The “fully functioning VHS tape” is meant to celebrate 45 years since the Alien franchise first (chest) burst into theaters, 20th Century Studios wrote in a release emailed to The Verge. Except its author doesn’t seem to have been the digital archivists’ support team — it was apparently written by the hackers who breached the site earlier this month and who evidently maintain some level of access to its systems.I’m not alone.
