Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) displays were abundant in monitors and TVs until the late 2000s, when flat-panel LCDs took over. These bulky and power-hungry monitors are what many of us played games on during our childhood. Forget thin bezels, blazing-fast refresh rates, or high resolutions — you were fortunate if your CRT's screen was free from magnetic distortion. While LCD monitors surpassed CRTs in terms of resolution, refresh rates, brightness, and connectivity, your ancient CRT monitor still beats many modern displays in some key areas. They might be effectively obsolete, but retro gamers and dedicated collectors are keeping them alive.

Windows is rather easy to dunk on. I've done it myself more times than I can count, and I've had plenty of reasons, too. This OS has made me face updates that break things, UI decisions that feel half-baked, features nobody asked for (looking at you, Copilot), and an overall structure that is now a patchwork of features and systems from different eras that often overlap and conflict.

Thermal paste is one of those things many people don't think about until they're installing a CPU cooler or troubleshooting overheating issues.
