Microsoft may finally fix one of my least favorite things about Windows 11

There's a lot I don't really like about Windows 11, but I think the bugbear that always manages to tick me off is the right-click menu. Never mind that Windows 11 has two of them—one for the new menu and one for the legacy menu, which I sometimes need to switch between—but the first one is already pretty cluttered to start with. Fortunately, it seems Microsoft has finally seen the light, as there are claims that the company is working to refine the newer menu to be less cluttered.

Canon adds a 32-megapixel sensor and 7K video to the new EOS R6 Mark III

Canon is announcing the EOS R6 Mark III camera, its latest jack-of-all-trades full-frame mirrorless model for both stills and video. The new camera has a 32.5-megapixel sensor, improved autofocus, up to 7K video recording, and a new dual-card arrangement with a faster CFexpress Type B slot. It’s set to launch...
It’s set to launch November 25th and will sell body-only for $2,799 as well as in kits with the RF 24-105mm STM lens or RF 24-105mm L lens for $3,149 and $4,049, respectively. The R6 line is aimed at a wider set of users who may not need the higher 45 megapixels of the pricier EOS R5 Mark II or want to spend well over $4,000 for the body alone. But the R6 Mark III seems no slouch now that it’s upping the res from 24 megapixels in the last-gen model to 32.5 megapixels. The Mark III can also capture higher-quality video up to 4K / 120p and 7K / 60p RAW, including support for full corner-to-corner open gate filming for extra cropping flexibility. There are more gamma settings on offer as well, with Canon’s Log 2 mode and custom looks. But some of the most helpful functional changes for video shooters may be the inclusion of a tally lamp to make it obvious from afar when you’re filming and the move from a Micro HDMI port to a full-size Type A HDMI. As for the new camera’s autofocus system, you can now register a person’s face to ensure it prioritizes them when continuously tracking. One change that may polarize some is Canon’s move from dual SD card slots on the R6 Mark II to an asymmetrical setup on the Mark III, with one CFexpress Type B and one SD. CFexpress can achieve faster speeds, and that’s likely in part responsible for the R6 Mark III’s ability to capture longer bursts of images while maintaining the same shooting speeds as the last-gen model (12 fps with the mechanical shutter or 40 fps electronic), even at its higher resolution. But CFexpress cards typically cost more, and managing multiple card formats is more cumbersome. Unlike CFexpress Type A, Type B card slots can’t be set up to also take an SD card — like you find in Sony cameras with their combo slots.Launching alongside the EOS R6 Mark III, Canon has an interesting new lens: the RF 45mm f/1.2 STM. It’s a compact standard prime lens with a very bright maximum aperture for capturing shots in low light and with very shallow depth of field. It’s also one of the most affordable f/1.2 lenses I’ve ever heard of, priced at $469.99 and estimated to ship in early December. Full-frame-compatible autofocusing lenses with f/1.2 apertures usually run well north of $1,500, even from third parties like Sigma, so seeing one from Canon for under $500 is pretty wild. It’s not an L lens, though, so it isn’t weather sealed, and you’ll have to pay an additional $59.99 for a lens hood. And while being briefed on it, Canon USA representative Drew MacCallum described the lens as not being for the most scrupulous of pixel peepers, due to its reliance on some in-camera corrections to support its image rendering and help compensate for its lower cost. Regardless, as someone whose favorite lens is a Sony FE 50mm f/1.2, I’d love to see affordable f/1.2 lenses become a trend.

Logseq offers three key advantages over Obsidian that are particularly relevant for daily note-taking. For starters, Logseq features block-first outlining, treating each idea as a movable piece; I can indent, reorder, and link a single line without having to deal with a whole page. The second advantage is the built-in query system that lets me surface matching blocks by tag or property. Finally, I love the integrated Daily Note that’s ready as soon as you open the app.

Halo: Campaign Evolved needs to keep this feature from the original intact

It's happening — Halo: Combat Evolved is getting a brand-new remake in the form of Campaign Evolved, and in even bigger news, PlayStation players are going to be able to wear Master Chief's helmet this time around, too. It's a seismic shift in the gaming landscape, with Halo itself coming to the PlayStation, and while I do have my hopes high for the remake and the new stuff it promises to add, there are a couple of things I hope do not change in the new Halo: Campaign Evolved.

Your case fans matter just as much as (or even more than) your CPU cooler

Many of us splurge on high-end 360mm AIO coolers to keep our CPU temperatures as low as possible. I do that too because they certainly help, but it's important to remember that they're only one part of your cooling setup. A powerful AIO or tower cooler can pull a lot of heat off your CPU, but it still relies on the air circulating inside your case. If that air is already warm and stagnant, even the best CPU coolers will struggle to keep temperatures under control.

If you logged into your Movies Anywhere account in the past few days, you might have noticed some titles missing from your library, specifically content purchased on Google Play and YouTube. As of October 31st, movies from either platform are no longer available on Movies Anywhere. The change was announced on a brief help page on Movies Anywhere, which simply states: “Effective 10/31/25, Google Play/YouTube will no longer participate in the Movies Anywhere program.” There are no further details about the reasoning behind the break-up. It appears that movies that were already synced to Movies Anywhere from a Google account are still accessible, but new purchases can’t be added to the platform. Google did not respond to a request for comment. Disney, which owns Movies Anywhere, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.Movies Anywhere has supported syncing with Google Play since 2017, allowing you to watch movies you purchased from Google Play or YouTube in the same place as films from other services. That support ended the same day that several Disney-owned channels went dark on YouTube TV due to an ongoing contract renewal dispute. Luckily, you can still watch your Google Play movies on YouTube or Google TV.

The vibe was quiet but focused. On the screen, numbers flickered as bets adjusted in real time.Near the projector, co-founders Tarek Mansour and Luana Lopes Lara chatted with a CBS News crew filming a segment for the next morni …Read the full story at The Verge.

This gaming PC packs a deadly combo with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Radeon RX 9070 XT, and it’s now at its lowest price ahead of Black Friday

This is a gaming PC we can get behind because some of the main components included are our favorites. The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT are the heavy hitters here, but you're also getting 32GB of DDR5 RAM and 2TB of SSD storage. What's great...
What's great about buying a prebuilt PC is that you don't have to worry about things not working. And if anything goes wrong, you can contact the manufacturer for support. Naturally, you're going to be paying a bit of a premium over building it yourself, but the time and headaches you save will be worth it.

Rode’s all-in-one video production console is now smaller and cheaper

Rode’s new console is slightly smaller and more than half the price of last year’s version. | Image: Rode Rode has announced a new version of the Rodecaster Video portable production console it launched just over a year ago, but the Rodecaster Video S isn’t a replacement. The Rodecaster Video S offers similar functionality to the original, including switching and mixing multiple video and audio sources and replacing blue or green screens, but with an even smaller footprint and price. The Rodecaster Video launched at $1,199 in late September 2024, while the new S version is available for preorder now for less than half that, at $499. The smaller version can’t accommodate as many video sources as the original, which itself was designed to be a limited but more affordable alternative to professional video switchers used in dedicated studios. At nearly $500, the Rodecaster Video S still isn’t a cheap tool for amateur streamers. But for established podcasters looking to test the waters with video versions of their content, it’s an even more affordable and accessible all-in-one solution when you factor in the built-in functionality like chroma keying and compatibility with both professional and consumer-grade audio and video gear. The Rodecaster Video S is powered by the same unnamed “high-performance octa-core processor” as the previous version, with video capabilities that max out at 1080p. It’s a couple inches shorter and almost 400 grams lighter, but the improved portability does come with some sacrifices. The Rodecaster Video featured four HDMI inputs, two HDMI outputs, and a pair of multifunction USB-C inputs for connecting mics and webcams. This new version has just three HDMI inputs, a single multifunction USB-C port for audio and video devices, and one HDMI video output. The Video S does carry forward the original’s pair of combo XLR/1/4” jack inputs, so it’s still compatible with professional-grade microphones, but you can alternately connect USB mics or Rode’s Series IV wireless mics using two built-in wireless receivers. A pair of 1/4” jacks provide custom mixes and levels to two sets of wired headphones, but the dedicated speaker outputs found on the original have been removed. You’ll still find a two-inch touchscreen on the Rodecaster Video S with its own dial controller for navigating settings and making adjustments, but the number of large buttons used to switch between video sources or load up to five preset scenes configurable using Rode’s desktop app has been reduced from 14 to 10.Other features carried over from the original Rodecaster Video include livestreaming to desktop software or directly to platforms like YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook. Or you can record broadcasts, including the individual video and audio sources separately, to an external USB storage drive for editing later. And because the Rodecaster Video S is designed for smaller productions, if you don’t have the budget for a dedicated operator, the console itself can automatically switch between multiple camera angles based on who’s speaking.
