Whether you want to admit it or not, AI is slowly starting to take up more space in our everyday lives. One option you have is to ignore it and continue taking on more than you can realistically handle. But here’s the thing: the longer you keep doing that, the quicker you’ll get left behind. The other option is to learn how to make AI work for you.

This classic first-person RPG with 90% positive reviews is just $2.49 on Steam for a limited time

Going back and playing games that were released decades ago can be a real mixed bag. Some games that were stellar titles at the time end up aging like milk, while others are still a riot to this day. Fortunately, the latter are more likely to stick around on storefronts,...
Going back and playing games that were released decades ago can be a real mixed bag. Some games that were stellar titles at the time end up aging like milk, while others are still a riot to this day. Fortunately, the latter are more likely to stick around on storefronts, meaning you can pick them up during a sale and snag a piece of gaming history for less.

This self-hosted knowledge aggregator would have made my student days so much easier

I was a student not too long ago — one who always looked for cool tools to use. Having spent four years of my life pursuing a degree in electronics engineering, I know how overwhelming student life can be — especially when it comes to completing assignments and projects on time. I've spent hours researching the web for various answers and solutions to problems I would encounter. What made it worse was the spotty Wi-Fi network inside the campus that would take ages to load simple webpages. I would always wish there was a way for me to access these websites and forums even when I was offline, since it would be more efficient that way. While I couldn't do it back then, I've found a tool that can do it now.

I’m in love with this 3D-printable Mario-themed key holder, and I think you’ll like it too

You know, I haven't seen many 3D printable key hangers. It seems like a really obvious thing to 3D print, and yet, I guess the idea never crossed my mind. Key hangars don't need to be complex; you can easily adjust the plan to fit the kind of screw you...

Key hangars don't need to be complex; you can easily adjust the plan to fit the kind of screw you want to use, and best of all, you can get really creative with how it'll look.

3 ways Microsoft can still win the console wars if it actually cares

To say that the Xbox brand has been through a very rough patch lately would be a massive understatement for most gamers. Between the large number of layoffs happening at Microsoft, and the cancellation of major games that were announced, rough times have been happening on the Xbox front. The...
To say that the Xbox brand has been through a very rough patch lately would be a massive understatement for most gamers. Between the large number of layoffs happening at Microsoft, and the cancellation of major games that were announced, rough times have been happening on the Xbox front. The major news breaking over the past few months has led to Xbox fans having their faith in the brand shaken severely. Many gamers who play new games on multiple consoles question whether it's a smart move to invest in anything within the Xbox ecosystem right now, especially if everything we know about Xbox now is in danger of changing for the worst in the near future.

I transformed my $15 Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W into the perfect local DNS server

Pi-hole is well-known in the self-hosting and privacy communities, but many people assume it requires powerful hardware to run correctly. After looking at how little CPU and RAM Pi-hole actually uses, I realized I didn’t need a full-sized Raspberry Pi or a mini PC. Instead, I repurposed a $15 Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W to act as a dedicated local DNS server and ad blocker. I’d already used one for network penetration testing, so it made sense to deploy another as my local DNS server and ad blocker.

Someone made a Raspberry Pi-powered GUI that keeps an eye on your server rack

NAS file sharing: Why I use both NFS and SMB protocols

The two most common are Server Message Block (SMB) and Network File System (NFS). SMB is best suited for Windows clients, while NFS is the go-to for Linux and macOS (and any other Unix-based system). Depending on what devices you have on your home local area network (LAN) that will interact with the NAS, it may be prudent to have both active and running. It's what I do, and here's why.

I turned on jumbo frames for my home network, but most people should keep it off

Wired data connections will never be entirely replaced by wireless ones, but the Ethernet protocol still has some design constraints that limit the performance of certain data transfers. One way to optimize these large throughput transfers is by using jumbo frames, which send a larger payload of data with every Ethernet frame, while using the same overhead as the standard 1500 MTU packet size. They can help if your network is 2.5GbE or faster, as sometimes the smaller data packets cause more traffic, slowing down the network. I've tested them on my home network, and couldn't see any difference with standard tests, but it does depend on what hardware and network path you have set up.
