I reapplied thermal paste multiple times, but that wasn’t the real problem

Whenever my CPU temperatures start creeping into the 80s, my first instinct is to blame the cooler, but I usually end up reapplying thermal paste, anyway. Whenever my CPU temperatures start creeping into the 80s, my first instinct is to blame the cooler, but I usually end up reapplying thermal paste, anyway. That's because, in my experience, a fresh layer of high-quality thermal paste like Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut has always reduced CPU temperatures by a few degrees, just enough that I don't feel the need to constantly monitor them using MSI Afterburner. If you think about it, it's the easiest thing you can act on without splurging on a new 360mm AIO.

PowerToys keeps shipping features Windows should have had years ago, and the latest update proves it

Microsoft's approach to Windows features is a mixed bag. It tries to keep the operating system overly simplified and doesn't ship several features that should be a part of it. PowerToys became my savior as it targeted the pain points of Microsoft’s flagship operating system. It includes a vast tool set now, much bigger than the original edition, and almost all of them make sense. Windows decides to skip even crucial features like a better preview tool, file management options, batch file rename, and many more.

4 Claude Code slash commands I use daily that make me more productive

I use Claude Code in two very different ways: managing my home lab server and building web apps. Most people treat Claude as a smart terminal and focus only on prompts. In a few instances, treating it like a chatbot means missing built-in controls like slash commands.

In my time building PCs and sitting at them for extended periods of time, I treated my monitor as an afterthought. Not the entire thing—I still cared a lot about refresh rate and response time, but besides that, the other specs didn't really matter to me. That is, until I finally made the jump to 4K. Resolution was the number I cared about when stepping up from 1080p to 1440p, and I assumed 4K would be more of the same, but it really transformed the way I look at those other numbers and features that I had previously ignored.
